A lot of people attribute Ives or Jobs to Apple design. Having participated in the design aspect, I will point out a lot of ideas were inspired by the community. For instance going from the colorful plastic G5 series to a chrome scheme and the silhouette ads were based on an internet celebrity's website on then top social network xanga. The account was silver monochrome design with a dark silhouette figure that drew many female fans, even celebrity commentors. The idea was that if style and aesthetic can bring this much attention, incorporating it into the product would make it seductively appealing. It worked. But the original art came from people, not Ives or Jobs. They do get credit for hardware design though.
