  • Police contracted to guard Apple Stores in Sacramento following theft spree

  • Australia fines Apple $6.7 million over misleading 'Error 53' repair practices

I rarely chime in here but COME ON!

iDevices trigger an error code if a third party attempts to perform a repair and the only company that can repair such device without generating an error code is Apple?

As if they don't make enough money 300 to 400 percent on the sales of a product, they make it impossible to repair without paying their high charges. it's not right .... period.

If the repair shop incorrectly performed the physical repair itself then it should be on them to deal with the repair, but this is wrong.

Sorry sir, you replaced your own windshield and that triggered an error that leaves your car unusable, if we replaced your windshield everything would've been fine.....BTW cost to replace windshield with us ,  $1500.00.

    LOL

  • iOS 12 'doubles down' on performance for iPhone and iPad

Apple is clearly out of ideas! It’s been evolutionary rather than revolutionary for quite some time and now it is getting downright boring.
Even developers know that we need the public excited about NEW REVOLUTIONARY hardware for our software to gain limelight.
Honestly how does this read in the journal etc?..... “Apple makes it a little cooler to own old stuff you already upgraded from so now your 2nd stepchild can chug the coolaid along with you.
Bottom line is they were once about money AND creativity AND end user experience, now it’s CLEARLY money thrown in with some health apps (in dark mode sometimes).
Why I am upset? I wait every year for one or two releases that I can endorse and proudly say “See? Apple is still on top!”
Now it’s clear they are leveling off, consumers will begin to turn and someone else will begin to innovate.
I am not angry at Apple or the fact that they didn’t announce anything really worthwhile today, I pity them. Apple isn’t cool anymore, Apple isn’t social currency any more, Apple is about on par with everyone else and no longer stands out.

Times changed. The market is in stage of evolution.
You’re talking about rare events such as the launch of the iPhone. You can’t have those every year. Everyone is in the game right now too, and for mobile software services is what matters most, not hardware which is improving a lot anyway. Apple is quite weak on the services front compared to Google (e.g productivity suite, voice assistant, machine learning) so there’s a lot to gain there. I was certainly hoping for more on the software side.
I agree, times have changed, I too have a HomePod and continue to believe Apple will catch up someday. As far as iPhones, not interested in the least also those announcements take place in September usually. But come on.....Mac mini,  MacBook Air, fix update for bass on HomePod, there were a ton of things that could’ve at least been hinted at.
You are also correct that Apple is now not only weak on hardware but of software as well. All I am saying is that this is sad. The Apple ecosystem is almost complete and now those who had such a disdain for the Orwellian 1984 are becoming just that.
