iPhone 11: How Apple makes tech of the future affordable
"Apple had to do something to get more people to upgrade rather than hold on to their devices even longer." Would you rather have one ultra-high-end smartphone for 3 years, or two mediocre ones? CPU and memory get cheaper - but screen, case, software and services don't. Many people realised it makes more sense to pay for a high-end phone that would be pleasant to use for 3-4 years. -
Study: Apple Pay at 9% adoption in US, lags far behind PayPal and traditional payment meth...
nottellinyou said:It’s very simple! Retailers do not like it or want it because they can’t trace the sale! Retailers use your credit card number to identify you. They use a hashed version of that, and other cards you use, to create a unique customer record on you! The data is used to understand shopper behavior, brand affinity, etc., who helps merchandise stores and select the assortment. Because Apple Pay proves them no traceable data it’s considered like a cash sale and non-traceable. Apple needs to further update the loyalty program capabilities to address some of this so companies like Starbucks will support it. -

US is shooting itself in a foot by not having a universal contactless payment system. Lock in to "Walmart pay" or other single-vendor stuff is ridiculous. Here in Finland you can use either Apple Pay or contactless physical cards literally everywhere! Cannot say about MobilePay and other Apple Pay rivals, but should be the same story. -
Editorial: 'iPhone 11' design will advance Apple's mobile imaging lead
I took photos with iPhone XS at night (with some street lamps around), and they looked very realistic - things you see in real life are visible on photos, things you don't see in real life are pitch black on photos. Why put a low-resolution night vision camera in a phone? FYI if you follow the link to iPhone vs Huawei comparison, there are Night Mode photos of a concert that clearly show all the stage equipment attached to the ceiling. Normally it is made black and invisible for people watching the concert in the hall. Why do you want to see it on photos? -
Unboxing and activating Apple's titanium Apple Card
I don't understand everyone's excitement for this ancient technology. Could not be happier after adding all my cards to Apple Pay. Now I cannot forget wallet at home, and literally every single business accepts Apple Pay here in Finland - Ikea caffeteria and local dentist office were literally two slow adopters but even they installed contactless payment terminals this year. Why would someone carry a physical card in addition to a phone?
