  • USB 3.0 & USB 3.1 merger into USB 3.2 branding by overseers further confusing USB-C

I'm hoping they come up with a new connector that is circular, has two keys that are imperceptible to the human eye, yet can't be inserted if they are not aligned within .01°.  This foolishness with the USB-C connector goes against all that USB has stood for over the last 20 years:
A connector that, by all odds, you should get wrong 50% of the time, but manage to get wrong 98.2%.

  • Apple's future AR smart glasses could help you find things in your house

At some point the social stigma of wearing AR glasses will fade*, and then it'll be nice to talk to people and know their name.  For some reason I have a hard time with that, and having an assistant just pop it up will be the thing for me.

And finding things around the house would help too, as well as having it when driving or flying.  There are already apps with AR on them when flying, like FlyQ Insight, but pulling the ipad/iphone out and searching around for things is a bit... awkward, and could be deadly while driving.  (Flying is easier, as the airplane should be trimmed for straight and level flight, and there really isn't much to hit up at 2500 feet AGL)

*like when only "geeks" wore BT headsets, or had cell phones, or computers...

  • Apple's 2019 hardware roadmap calls for at least 11 new products

Wow what a busy year if they could fulfill this gigantic order!!

I would hope for an Apple TV this year.

C'mon Apple, please update the iMac.  I've squeezed every last performance drop out of my late 2009 model.

Doesn't have to be a major step-change...internals and ports like the mini?

(Well, I do love the space gray body of the iMac Pro.)

You have a 2009 iMac. Even a 2012 iMac would be a huge upgrade. No need to wait.

My 2009 iMac is still going strong too BTW.
As is my 2007 one.  However, as someone else posted, buying a computer with 2 year old specs is a recipe for disappointment.  In the PC world, that rarely stands, as you can just make your own PC and be done with it.  Of course you don’t have the same support and you spend a lot of time reconfiguring, optimizing, and updating the modular design (drivers, O/S) and hope it works after each update.

All in all, I don’t really miss the PC days, but when the time between updates on the Mac, I start looking over the fence to see what’s going on over there...

  • Apple-designed inter-car communications could make 'Project Titan' safer

While this makes a huge amount of sense it also highlights the complexity of self driving vehicles.   For instance, what happens when a sensor (either sending or receiving) is burned out -- and other vehicles assume that it is working?   And, in such a situation, how you even get the vehicle to a service station -- would it have to be towed?  Or perhaps Woz decides to modernize his TV interference device (that made the watcher jump up & down and wrestle with its rabbit ears) to either block these signals or (arguably worse) send false signals -- making all traffic turn right into the Beto rally instead of the Trump rally?
Redundant systems with self checks help with your sensor question.  In a human driving car, there is one computer that needs to be shut down every 16 or so hours, and if it isn't, it becomes unreliable.  However the computer in the human driven car has something that a computer doesn't:  The power to make irrational decisions.  I call it a "power" since it can decide to turn left when Siri says to turn right because it has to use the restroom and they know that there's a better restroom at the Pilot Truck Stop rather than the 7-11 that is closer.  Or deciding to take another route home because you want to see different scenery.  As long as the cars have manual override with the TCAS (from above) protections, I'm good.  Another generation may forgo that, like we do with refrigerators and the lack of manual ice delivery to make them cold.
