  • Apple names first head of marketing for augmented reality

AR really is going to be a tough sell, good luck Frank Casanova.

All the ways AR could be useful are more trouble then they’re worth... currently.

Basically, AR has some niche uses like those of Google Glass Enterprise, but I can’t imagine why I’d need something like that on my phone.

In fact, Apple give me Apple AR Glass(es) first...

110% agree with you.  Having to have your hands holding a device to see the information desired doesn't help, but hinders.  If we thought that selfie sticks were annoying, imagine having people with their arms out walking around tourist attractions getting the informative tour.  Also, in downtown cities it isn't helpful, either.  A wearable AR would solve these issues, and if it included minimalizations as you moved to important information only, so that distracting unimportant information was not displayed until you stopped moving, but "COLLISION ALERT WITH TRAIN IMMINENT!!!" would get shown (vs. "Becky just get a note from Jason!!!")

  • Apple's health plans turn to women with hiring of famous obstetrician

    anome said:

Women's Health is one of those issues that needs everything it can get, so this is good news. Even if it's not her main objective in this role, it can't hurt to have someone with that kind of background on the team.

And before anyone jumps in, yes there are Men's Health issues that also need attention, and hopefully they'll hire a Urologist with experience in those, too. But I don't know how they're going to track prostate health with the Apple Watch.

    I’ll jump in...
I totally agree with you.  I’m married to a woman, and a woman for a mother, and so I’m glad that they’re going after all health issues, and those that affect women exclusively.  I want them to be around for a long time.  I also like the work they’re doing on diabetes, being a T1D for 47 years myself.  It is one of the great things about technology being a help in peoples’ lives.

  • Fulfilling a WWDC promise, Microsoft Office 365 arrives on the Mac App Store

So, how does this work with family sharing?  I had a bit of a problem with iBank (Banktivity... whatever they're called this week) when I went from 6 to 7.  Yes, it's "free" to share with the family, but each family member has to upgrade for $35 to use it after a month.

Will that be the same?  I already have the family Office, where I can install it on 5 computers.  Will I have to do in app purchases for each one now, should I wish to do this?

  • Apple's AirPower again rumored to launch in 2019

Fascinating that it was announced in September 2017(?) and we're still waiting.

  • PSA: The HomePod now counts towards streaming limits with Apple Music

While this might be the case, it seems counterintuitive that I should have a tug of war take place when I’m listening to music, at the gym for example, and someone is home using the HomePod.

I don’t think it was a ‘bug’ as described but the intended behavior. Additionally there is no option to purchase an additional stream for the HomePod, only the single user or the family pack.

    Something smells fishy.
Our family used to use the "One Login to Rule them All!" when signing up phones, but now it's easier for us to have different ones and use the family plan. It seems that this plays fair as well with the ToS, because having one login consume all of the media on 23 different devices (I know...) makes it kind of a "cheat". Besides, I was wondering why I had all of these screen shots of Monument Valley in my photos.
