Two good car antitheft measures are AirTags and stick shifts
radarthekat said:AppleZulu said:antiprotest said:Apple's tracking device has saved others as well. For example, a woman in Australia discovered that her boyfriend was tracking her with an AirTag in February.
"It wasn't until I told him I was going to the police to report it that he finally confessed," she continued. "I felt so violated and I was in a state of shock. It just blew my mind that someone I trusted so much could do something like this."
She has since ended the relationship.
The above is not another example of the AirTag saving somebody, but an example of iOS notification saving someone FROM an AirTag. It is an example of an AirTag used for a bad purpose -- the opposite of what the article tries to illustrate.
The list of bad reasons to track someone is infinite, but so are the good reasons to do so. The most important thing is the permission from the person being tracked. (Duh…) -
Apple launches $50 gift card incentive for Apple TV 4K
...which means that there's a new Apple TV coming in September.
It's a strange thing where the best thing to do for your dollar is get the hardware when it first comes out, for longest usage. If you get it on the day before the new one comes out, there is one less year that the software will support your device.
Anyway, this, and the "back to school" discounts are just the inventory clearing sales that Apple does. If only Apple had the new stuff come out in July/August, so buyers could get the latest, along with the tax holidays in many states, for the best value.

What to expect from Apple's Q3 2022 earnings report on July 28
jellybelly said:When you show bar charts and point out quarters, it would be nice if you could label the chart better in a graphic program after the chart source exports the chart.I did it on my iPad in Vectornator, using it for the first time. Amazing features and amazingly useless search in the help/ support area. I could have knocked this out in InDesign in 15 minutes or less, which I’ve used since 2003. And I’d have had the time to do a nicer job.
I hope you can improve on this and do something like this so we can find all the 2nd quarters for the comparisons. Maybe highlighting the 2nd quarters with shaded rectangles (in multiply mode to make ‘see-through’) would work better. Labeling and dividing the years with vertical rules helps too.
Thanks in advance for considering this.

Fraudsters target Apple Pay in credit card scams
lkrupp said:As always the weakest link in security is between the ears of the idiots who gladly hand over their credentials to anyone who calls them with an offer too good to be true. And there’s no patch for stupid.- Get approved for a new blood checker
- Get a new warranty for my car
- Get approved for a week long hotel?
- Lose an Amazon/UPS/FEDEX package?
- Get a legitimate offer for a Medicare card? (About 30 years from now I might)
My grandfather is getting scammed by a live person. At least he can see the enemy.
