The one way this might be useful is in Macro photography where you want a very close subject to have a deeper 'sharp zone' - as Puiz says in most normal pictures the depth of field on a tiny phone sensor is usually more than wanted - which is why computational portrait mode was invented to simulate a narrower depth of field. -

How can they call this thing 'Air'? It's enormous - the woman on stage is dwarfed by the thing. Completely impractical (although nice screen size for iMax style home cinema.) 👍
