  • Apple privacy head explains privacy protections of CSAM detection system

Again, where will you all go if you can’t trust Apple anymore? I’ve asked this question many times but no responses. If you no longer trust Apple or think they are in bed with the government will you leave the platform? Where will you go? Or, as I strongly suspect, will you just bitch and whine about privacy and pray for the destruction of Apple, and then meekly accept the inevitable, and go about your lives?

All this talk about Apple destroying its credibility, PR disasters, loss of customers, is just a wet dream of the paranoid, NSA behind every bush crowd.
And this is exactly the problem. There is no other place to go. This is why I and many other people are angry. We have no other options.

So, Apple continues to defend itself and be utterly deaf to any criticism. They continue to act like they can do no wrong. If this is their reaction to privacy issues, then the entire stance of the company is over. I was thankful in the past for all their efforts. How easily they are throwing it all away.

  • New FAQ says Apple will refuse pressure to expand child safety tools beyond CSAM

That Apple fails to see the conceptual problem with checking the contents of private accounts is mind boggling. And the idea, as other commenters mention, that users must rely on their current and future refusal to use this technology for other purposes is the most ridiculous thing ever. I don’t know if they are just too impressed with themselves, or simply stupid when it comes to anything beyond technological cleverness.

  • Epic Games CEO slams Apple 'government spyware'

Apple completely screwed this up. It’s conceptually wrong from the start. I can’t believe this even got initiated as a project. It’s idiotic to try and excuse looking into private data by justifying the method of the technology. Apples entire stance before now is something I have supported. In this ridiculous step they’ve utterly failed. And should cancel this initiative.

  • What you need to know: Apple's iCloud Photos and Messages child safety initiatives

There are some false implications in this article. For example, people such as myself who don’t like surveillance of any kind…also definitely don’t like other companies doing it. For example, checking online material that’s publicly available seems reasonable. Looking into private accounts, even with clever methods, is not reasonable. For example, governments will continuously ask and demand greater and greater access to private accounts. This might seem like a purely altruistic technology in this case, but yes, the slope is incredibly slippery. For example, many people, myself included, don’t like the immense degree of data mining that is commonplace. Every step is a gradual reduction in individual privacy, and there are always explanations and excuses for these steps.
