Apple's Core Technology Fee at the center of EU's first DMA violation investigation
I wouldn't be surprised if Apple exits the EU marketplace at some point. They are already delaying Apple Intelligence and iPhone mirroring in Europe.
As I understand things, the DMA doesn't undercut intellectual property rights under EU law, so this will be litigated from here until the cows come home. No way Apple is giving away their IP for free. -
Apple appeals Apple Watch ban, citing 'irreparable harm' to its business
I think Apple had to wait until the administrative process ended (yesterday) and then that opened them up to going back to Court to put a stay on the ban. It seems like in the prior case that ended in a mistrial, most of the jurors were going to side with Apple. A new trial hasn't been set, so it makes sense for the Court to put the brakes on the import ban since the matter hasn't been fully adjudicated. -
Apple shows off next generation CarPlay in Porsche and Aston Martin cars
Very very cool. This solidifies my reasoning to never buy (or rent if I can help it) a car without CarPlay support.
I wonder if Apple is letting, or going to let, automakers have a CarPlay OS (or maybe part of it) to run on their automotive computers. Might help with all the displays since CarPlay is getting so extensive in the vehicle. -
Looking back at John Sculley's rise as Apple's CEO, and fall on October 15, 1993
I was one who for years looked at Sculley with derision, but after seeing an interview or two (this was a decade or so back), that changed. Yes, he was not Steve, but Sculley didn't harbor any ill will with Steve and I think did try pretty hard to move Apple forward. Like others said, the Mac II line came out under his watch and later the PPC. Both were pretty solid and well-regarded.
Apple was facing some major headwinds in the 90s in the market with Windows, especially when 95 came out, making it even tougher. Of course Jobs came back and we all know what happened. In addition to having a great OS in NextStep and his natural ability to understand what people wanted, he had grown as a business leader.

Apple is unsurprisingly already working on A19 and M5 chips
