Apple wipes on-device CSAM photo monitoring from site, but plans unchanged
I myself didn’t have any issues with any of it TBH. I don’t have child pornography on anything I own and neither does anyone I know so I have nothing to worry about. They never were going to physically look at every photo, these are hash scans for particular data in the file details itself, not the actual photos. I also allowed the notifications setting on my 11 year old Daughter’s phone to notify me of potential unacceptable messages being sent or received. Let the paranoid people kill what could actually help end the CP sickness that’s more of an issue today than ever.

Third-party iPhone 13 screen repairs back on the table with iOS 15.2 beta
Thing is, the market for 2nd and even 3rd hand or later used iPhones is relatively large. I’ve sold every iPhone I’ve owned for a decent return on investment. I can assure you that every buyer I’ve encountered would not buy my used iPhone if it was rebuilt with other than OEM parts inside. That’s how I keep them and later advertise them for a quick and honest sell.
Im also aware of the huge market on super cheap iPhone’s folks are rebuilding and selling in quantity rather than quality. Serializing screens for sure isn’t in their best interest but Apple has no way to guarantee the quality they advertise after 4 random people put whatever random parts inside it. Today’s phones are expensive and everyone expects their money to go as far as possible and the manufacturers are held to sometimes extreme standards lately.I’m part of the but cheap, rebuild, and profit from used Apple devices. MacBooks, iPads, iPhones. This serializing screens would put a dent into profits. -
Privacy and security are Apple's top App Store priorities, Tim Cook says
OutdoorAppDeveloper said:Was it privacy or security that convinced Cook to implement a program to scan everyone's photos on iCloud without their permission and without a search warrant? -
