  • Apple TV+ gains first Oscars nominations with 'Wolfwalkers' and 'Greyhound'

I gotta agree...Greyhound is a great movie. Its limited runtime illustrates how well it stayed in action, not wasting time on secondary conversations other than the opening romantic "off to war" scene with Hanks and Shue. Thinking of the sound, I'm with GeorgeB that this had a big impact in the movie...when those guns start shooting at U-boats, it's intense and solid! That crying, almost howling sound, each time they show a U-boat rise up from the sea is awesome.

Having not seen the other movies, I can't give a honest assessment on Best Sound. I can say Greyhound is a well made action movie and sound is definitely a part of that success.

  • Apple TV+ review: Catching up with full seasons of Apple's original shows

I have to disagree about Ted Lasso - it is a phenomenal show!
You have to go through the first 3 episodes which rely mainly on the differences between American football and soccer.

After this, it is funny, optimistic, very smart and good-hearted. I have never seen anything remotely approaching it - a real very good surprise.

And, by the way, very far from the non-risky approach of Netflix - I don't think Netflix could produce a show like Ted Lasso.
I agree too...Ted Lasso greatly exceeded what this review matched as my expectations.

It really has clever humor, not based on sexist or vulgar stereotypes...which so many TV comedies live by. Granted it says the "F" word or a derivative quite extensively, it's done not for laughs but rather portraying the vernacular of jocks in their habitat. The female leads are smart without being condescending, and are as integral to the ongoing plot/comedy as the football team/coaches. And super admiration to how well Jason Sudekis plays the lead and the depth that has been given to what seems merely a funny "country bumpkin".

Of all the Apple TV+ shows I've watched and admired this past year, Ted Lasso is definitely the one that I'm most anticipating its next season.

Being on the iP12 Pro 256GB!   My wallet is ready!
HA...Amen! It's going to hurt until I get that phone in my hand, then it won't matter how much I paid! I really think this model will be a bigger, better leap on par with the iPhone 6 and iPhone 4 launches.

  • Apple extends Apple TV+ free trial to end of February 2021

I've gone through Mythic Quest and Ted Lasso. I'm watching Tehran, The Long Way Up and Tiny World...
Yeah, I love Ted Lasso, and Tehran, while familiar, is well done (so far). I've watched Greyhound probably 4 or 5 times. The Long Way Up is just so cool!

As long as Apple keeps the level of the quality and variety of programs like these, I'll keep "buying" especially when considering Apple One bundle.

  • Compared: 2020 iPad Air versus 2019 iPad Air

As I have the iPad Air 2019 with the Pencil 1Gen and Apple iPad Smart Keyboard case, it's a bit more of an investment to update than $600, as the article stated. I really like the performance of my 2019 and with iPad OS 14's Scribble feature, the Pencil has become much more valuable.

That said, Apple will give me $250 for my 2019 trade-in, I get 3% back using Apple Pay, and can spread payment over 12 months. So it helps lower that replacement price some, but it's not as clear cut as I'd like.

At this point, I'm going to wait on the iPhone 12 announcement to see if that's where I upgrade rather than this iPad 2020.
