Primary computer is M1 Ultra MacStudio (128GB & 8TB SSD) with two Studio Displays. Have a 10Gb ethernet hub and these two devices are interconnected there. Others in my home use the WiFi 6e system which is adequate. Those components were in place about 18 months ago and maybe this year will go to WiFi 7 but v8 is chaffing at the bit.

Apple's trade in values were just too low for viable equipment. 

The current M2 mini Pro server will be re-located to one of my son's home as a primary with new Studio Display. All retired at my place Apple gear trickles down over 9 grandkids. 

Just ordered a M4 Pro mini to be also a file server. Based upon my M2 Pro file server, I ordered the 64GB of memory, 2TB SSD, 10Gb ethernet and 14-core CPU since no changes after it is built.  ETA is 14 to 22 January and based upon our other orders in the last two months expect it will be here early. Being a new year, I got my military discount on the unit well.

Still love my M1 Ultra Mac Studio with two Studio Displays ordered in August of 2022. The $1.100 trade in price to get the M2 Ultra Mac Studio was a slap in my face. Apple is selling this same M1 Ultra model for over $6k on the refurbished pages.

I will order a Mac Mini Pro (64GB ram, 8TB SSD, and 10 Gbit ethernet) along with a nano Studio Display for our summer place in the mountains on 1 December. The Studio Display will replace a 24" LG Ultra Fine display on my M2 Pro file server  for the winter time.

The cost difference between 14" and 16" is $300 regardless of trim line (M4 Pro or M4 Max) at each comparative level. That $300 gives me a larger screen that I can see better and longer run times that required a bigger charger. Our international travel is down to perhaps one more trip to the UK next year to visit my wife's family. So the weight is a non-issue. 

Seems like Microsoft has the exclusivity with Intel. All the Intel boxes came with DOS or Windows in the day....
