  • 2023 Mac Studio vs 2022 Mac Studio - compared

My purchase in October of 2022 of a fully optioned M1 Ultra Studio was over $7,400 with my military discount. Apple suggested the trade-in value is $1,500 against the new model that would cost over $8,000 even with military discount.

That is a 80% depreciation in one year. My existing unit can handle all of the programs I use efficiently.

The speeds are to the point of fractions of an eye blink. No sure that more speed is that important as a senior citizen.

So it will be M3 or M4 before I get the value from using my M1.

  • Mac Studio gets updated with powerful M2 Max and M2 Ultra processors

BIG $1,000 PRICE JUMP over my loaded M1 Ultra. The loaded Mac Pro Ultra is $11,799 while the fully loaded Studio is $8,799. The $3,000 extra gets access expansion slots...

Sad that my fully loaded $7,200 2022 M1 Mac Studio Ultra has a trade in value today of only $1,500. That's about 80% depreciation in one year.....

My jingle will remain in my pocket.

  • As you may expect, the internet already says that Apple's headset is doomed, apparently

The 11” MBAir was a perfect size for the ever getting smaller airline fold down table in Economy. First Class seems to have supported the 16” world okay.

I travel on airlines now with a 1TB M1 11” iPad with modem with the Bridge keyboard. Since iPadOS supports printers, I can function on short trips w/o my 14” MBPro Max.

The Apple product line up seems to have an answer for every question except for how to pay for the latest and greatest. The minor incremental upgrade worm does not entice me to bite every time a new upgrade comes out.

Apple supports prior devices for many years with software updates so that could make the rationale for annual new hardware less compelling.

  • Garmin challenges the Apple Watch Ultra with new smartwatches

Have been on a seven week trip to Europe: Austria, Greece, Ireland and the UK. Wearing my Apple Ultra watch on the left wrist and my stainless steel 1968 vintage Rolex GMT Master Pepsi design two time zone self winding watch (from my Navy days) on the right wrist. They are about the same size and weight. The mechanical watch is just in case the Ultra has a hiccup.

  • Italy's antitrust agency opens probe into Apple App Store dominance

If these brilliant others were so smart, where were they when Apple spent lots of money developing their ideas into a working product?

Oh, that’s right, they are entitled because they breathe air and expended zero money to have complete access to all if Apple’s propriety and patented work.

Apple products do not have a monopoly on the world of innovation, just on their products. Ford and GM do not have to share their secrets and there is no bitching in that world about their monopoly of their designs
