  • Despite potshots, Intel & Samsung want to make Apple Silicon

I sure would not let Intel nor Samsung have access to build Apple's processors. They would then steal the technology for their own chips and Apple would loose their marketing and power advantages in both computers and the "I" devices.

Samsung stole Apple's designs years ago and they are not any different now. There is a different integrity mindset in other places in the world.

  • Compared: 14-inch MacBook Pro vs. 13-inch M1 MacBook Pro vs. Intel 13-inch MacBook Pro

Play with the list prices of the 2019 16" MacBook Pro Intel to get it fully loaded. Then do the same for the 2021 16" MacBook Pro M1 Max. The 2021 model is $600 cheaper.

So there is a lower price for the newer gear when comparing same models.

My wife's 13" MacBook Pro Intel was $3,599 with 2.3Ghz Core i7, 32 GB ram and 4TB SSD. The closest 14" MacBook Pro is the M1 Pro with base processor, 32GB of unified memory and a 4TB SSD lists for $3,899. The $300 "premium" is off set with a much better screen and much faster processor and the SDXC slot, HDMI port and MagSafe power cord.

I ordered the 14" MacBook Pro M1 Max with 32 Core GPU,  64GB of unified memory and a 4TB SSD and it listed for $4,699.00

  • Compared: 2021 New 16-inch MacBook Pro vs. 2019 16-inch MacBook Pro

Due to the soldered mentality at Apple, one has to buy the most memory, fastest processors and much larger SSD to try and future proof the new device.

My 2012 Mac Pro is still running, but slowly and hangs up often. Figuring out to save the two 27" Lightening monitors that work fine for me and are attached to the wall.

  • Compared: 14-inch MacBook Pro vs. 13-inch M1 MacBook Pro vs. Intel 13-inch MacBook Pro

At the starting gun after the presentation, I ordered the 14" MacBook Pro M1 Max with 64GB of ram and a 4TB SSD. It will be here on the 26th of October. It is far more portable than my 2019 16" MacBook Pro for airline and travel use.

The new  14"/16" laptop models are so many light years ahead in terms of performance of my 1990 IIfx system (the best Apple machine with a Motorola 68040 processor) that cost over $10,000 at the time. I was truly surprised that a fully loaded 16" MacBook Pro M1 Max was actually $600 less expensive than my fully loaded 2019 16" MacBook Pro.

  • New MacBook Pro with M1 Max processor will ditch Touch Bar, adopt MagSafe

Ordered the new MacBook Pro 14" with M1 Max (32 core GPU), 64GB memory and 4TB SSD at the gun. Will be here OCT 28.

It has both HDMI and SDXC camera card capability plus the MagSafe of old. Fortunately I have many of the 96 watt chargers for my 2019 16" MacBook Pro so one charger will work for both machines. The cord is separate from the charging brick. which is a big improvement.

The 14" size would require a slightly larger leather case than the 13" MBAir M1 but smaller than my 2019 16" laptop. The 14" compared to my MBAir M1 is 0.34" wider, 0.35" taller 0.02 thinner. It also weighs 0.7  pounds heavier.

New 16" has larger dimensions than my 2019 16". It is 0.02" thicker, 0.08" narrower, 0.09" taller and weighs 0.4 pounds more.

I need the Intel cpu capability of my 2019 16"  for some older hardware devices and monitors.
