I was at the Apple store yesterday with my iPad Pro 11 with fractured glass screen (due to the poor design of Apple’s keyboard for this specific model). They checked for water incursion and ran diagnostics. Those were fine. I did suggest not sliding the fingers across the glass.

I will pay $49 for a replacement (vs $499 if I did not have Apple Care +). Note unit was purchased 18 March 2019.

There were no replacement units in the Phoenix valley, so will return to store on 25 May to do the swap. 

Meanwhile I have a Zagg Slim pro keyboard coming along with a Zagg screen protector. Will not reuse the Apple keyboard on the replacement.

I see the AirPods with Siri voice control (or the Beats described above) as making hands free driving a reality. Telling Siri to dial a number or person sure beats fumbling with the phone while driving. In Tempe, AZ, just having a phone in hand is a police stoppable event with a substantial fine in additional to the usual driving offenses.
