    Descriptions of good sounding portable speakers always seem to include the caveat “sounds good for its size.” Why can’t we have a speaker big enough to just plain “sound good” without any qualifications?

    Bring on a modern version of the HiFi!

    The Denon Envaya does sound good for its size, and I'd say it even sounds above its size. It's like a mini hifi.

    I have a few issues with the Envaya but I'd still buy it again.
    1. There is an audible hiss at all times...you notice it and then you forget its there...until you notice it again.
    2. When connected to a mac, scrubbing video playback quickly can cause the speaker to disconnect. 
    3. Very small "sweet spot" but to be expected from a directional speaker of this size.
