iPadOS 15 confirms Apple's M1-equipped iPad Pro is a V8 engine powering a Ford Pinto
I am so happy you wrote this article. I think Apple should be praised for their hardware design, the M1 iPad Pro is a beast. An A+ in my view. But iPadOS has to change… it’s not an A+ OS for the the hardware inside iPad Pro. The stark difference in how macOS uses M1 compared to iPadOS highlights the problem. This article summarizes the issues very well…I’m not saying Apple needs to bring macOS to the iPad, but we know that the M1 is an extremely capable chip. So I really do hope Apple reimagines multitasking on the iPad and fixes the other issues like the external monitor issue as well as the files app, make it more robust similar to finder on the Mac.There is soooo much potential inside of the iPad Pro, so I’m looking forward to Apple significantly improving the UI. They could bring interactive widgets, windowing support, full multi-monitor support, pro apps, and more. Samsung Dex is a relatively decent example of how multitasking on a tablet (or even a phone via an external monitor) could work… Apple has been creating UIs since the 80’s and has refined macOS beautifully. IPadOS needs similar refinement, especially now that the powerful M1 is inside of the iPad Pro. -
Head EU antitrust regulator wants Apple to allow alternate app stores
Give users choice. No one is forcing anyone to use alternative app stores, but given that the app market is a billion dollar enterprise, I can see why governments are now interested in ensuring adequate competition.I do believe it’s just a matter of time before alternative app stores are allowed on iOS. -
