While I disagree with your suggestion that Apple could be making brands within the company to cater to different interests, I do agree that they'll be fine without Ives. The work that Ive left will serve as the foundation of Apple design for years to come. The team has a good base to work with, and plenty of time to iterate and find something that works well for them. We might not get anything wildly different for a while, but both Ives and Apple would not have let this happen had the team not been competent enough to take the reins.
