2020 iPhone to reduce TrueDepth notch, full-screen display rumored for 2021
My current primary phone is an iPhone Xs (previously had iPhone X). In regard to the notch "concerns", at first I thought I would be bothered but after using the phones it actually works quite well and I usually forget its even there. It even provides a good way to differentiate the pull down locations for the notifications (left side) and control center (right side).
As for the lack of a physical home button. There are times I do miss having that as I could more easily navigate the phone by feel but the extra screen space makes up for not having it.
Finally, as for FaceID/TouchID. I would much rather have TouchID back. If I were to measure the success rate of the technologies based on either A.) failed login attempts, B.) unintentional logins, or C.) number of times having to enter my pin code instead... than I would say my TouchID iPhones were roughly 95% while FaceID is around 60% or less. I have even had several instances of pocket dialing or opening random apps because I inadvertently unlocked my phone with a glance while i was putting it in my pocket (never happened to me prior to FaceID). Ideally they would bring back TouchID and allow users to choose which technology they want to use (TouchID/FaceID/Pin Code only). Allow the user to decide which they prefer as each has pros / cons.
