  • ARM iMac, 13-inch MacBook Pro coming at end of 2020, says Ming-Chi Kuo

Would it be possible to make the current Mac Pro a dual processor architecture solution via a plug-in card? So to have a hardware acceleration instead of software emulation? It would be surprising if Apple didn’t think of a viable solution in order to not piss the pros (yet again), giving the short timeframe between releasing the new Pro and announcing the major architecture shift, which must have been in planning for a very long time. Yes, I know, Apple this and Apple that in not losing much sleep over radical transitions, but given the cost of the new Pro systems, this would be a huge slap in the face, even by their standards.

  • HBO Now not available on 2nd & 3rd generation Apple TVs

Well, to be fair, even Apple TV+ doesn’t work properly on my 3rd gen ATV (a known issue for many users). On the other hand, HBO apps on my brand new LG WebOS TV set are a sad mess, I guess they just have lazy programers.

I just connect my iPad to the TV via HDMI for all the problematic apps... Not as convenient, but I feel that life in general has more pressing issues at the moment, so I guess I’ll survive these horrific setbacks without much drama 😆

  • Apple releases 'major' update to Logic Pro X

I’ve been saving tax rebates to buy a new Mac Pro to replace both my old Macs and my old PC, and then Apple went and changed the introductory price of the Mac Pro to frelling $6000, twice what it used to start at, and all non-plutocrats who can’t afford an overkill machine are expected to keep using storage & RAM-unupgradable & thermally deficient all-in-one laptops, iMacs, or similarly stupidly compact & unupgradable Mac Mini (while also suffering whatever display incompatibilities there are with third party displays because Apple only makes a $5000 display now).
If you really need a Mac Pro, you can afford it. Otherwise, you can produce a whole album or a feature film score on almost any Apple machine. Logic doesn't need uber-hardware to run smoothly. If you look at the videos or photos from most music producer's setups, it's mostly a MacBook or an iMac of some kind running the DAW. Unless you're Deadmau5 and need to render videos in real time while running a truckload of equipment, then sure, get a Mac Pro and cover the cost in one show. Same goes for video, unless you're Marques Brownlee and shoot 8K RED RAW daily, any MacBook Pro or higher-spec iMac will do the job for a 4K workflow, not to mention full HD. I do both audio and video and my current machine is a 13" MacBook Pro with an eGPU, but I also actively use a 2015 27" i5 iMac. I yet have to see either machine reach 100% CPU usage in Logic or Ableton. Plus, you can upgrade an iMac's RAM or add a Thunderbolt 3 SSD and eGPU to any modern MacBook.

As for the iOS 13 on 1st gen iPad Pro, I'm using the combo and it still flies with any regular task.

Ehh not really. You just came in with a bunch of subjective opinions about TV and music, and claims about iCloud not working which don’t jive with many of the frequent users in this forum. That you feel people who are satisfied customers after years and decades of heavy use and aren’t opposed to saying so are fanatics...is more about you than anything, really.

Sorry things aren’t working for you.

Also, none of the so-called digital assistants are much better than each other. Outside of mundane use cases, they all stink about the same.
My opinion WAS subjective, that's why I started with not wanting to generalize and that the problems and gripes were applying in MY case. My statement was not blasting anyone else, but was presented as a lament and a warning if you will.

I've been an Apple devotee since my first Mac, a IIci bought in 1990. So speaking of decades of heavy use, I have 3 under my belt (both personal and work). But even I was taken aback with most of the reactions on this thread, even though I've been on the fandom end many times :) The sarcasm of bringing up Bixby and such was SO lame, and I speak sarcasm as a second language, so I am entitled to say so.

It's totally OK for people to express their satisfaction with everything that works fine, but they mustn't take the warning as a personal attack on their preferences, rather have to be aware that having a plan B at all times is a must — Apple is overall still better than other options, but definitely not infalible.

iCloud works great for me.  Maybe you should pull out your phone and ask Bixby to recommend a service for you.
I might ask Google assistant since it is quite a bit brighter than Siri, my other big sorrow with Apple... I am quite a fanboy, owning two iPhones, two Macs, an iPad, a Watch, everything newer than two years. But you people blow me out of the water with your fanaticism ;)
