  • MacBook Air update arrives with lower starting price & M4 performance boost

After Apple’s attempt at a low priced iPhone, the MacBook Air comes in at the right price for the features I believe. I mean, the 12 MP center stage camera is a win in my book. Anyways, what people need to understand is that it’s harder to make a phone than it is a laptop as a phone has more limited space and needs much smaller components and so that’s why they tend to be more pricey for what you get, if you understand what I mean. Look, they couldn’t build a new phone for the same price as the old SE, no matter how much they tried, but just do basically a performance upgrade and a new camera, yeah that doesn’t cost as much. I’m sure if the economy improves in the next year or so, we’ll see a better priced model e iPhone, but don’t expect it to be drastically lower, either $499 or $529 would be what I would expect.

  • iPhone 16e vs iPhone 16: A new Apple Intelligence-powered entry-level option

I wonder how Apple will justify the price come Fall when the iPhone 17 lineup launches… Will they simply just discontinue the 16 since they will be adding a new Air model? I mean, $200 difference between the 16 and 16e is all well and good, but if it’s only $100 difference, then it will make it a harder sell for the 16e unfortunately. I understand the price increase, but I was hoping it would’ve been no more than $529.

  • Up close and hands on with Apple Vision Pro at Apple Park

While I am impressed by the technical and see its practicality, it’s still a niche market at the present. Give it a few years and maybe it will be come more mainstream, but even then, it won’t be an iPhone or even an iPad. The biggest benefiters of this product as I see it as of now will be businesses, especially amusement parks and arcades (like Dave and Busters).

  • Maxed-out Apple Silicon Mac Pro costs 1/4 what a maxed Intel one did

For a certain subset of professionals (such as myself), the new Mac Pro is a bargain. There is only an $500 price difference between a Mac Pro and Mac Studio in this apple for apple configuration:

     - Mac Pro tricked out with 9TB RAM w/ dual-slot NVME PCI-e card populated with qty (2) 4TB NVME slabs = $7500 + $700
     - Mac Studio with 8TB RAM w/ qty (3) TB3 PCI-3 enclosures = $6200 + $1500

In the Pro the NVMEs will be able to run at full speed instead of 2700GB/s. And they can be RAIDed reliably — I no longer trust spreading that kind of RAID across two enclosures any longer.

Cannot wait for mine to arrive!
The new Mac Pro is a bargain, but all those complaining it had lesser specks, I wonder just how many professionals really needed all those specks. Expect the next update to be bigger (most-likely with upgradable GPUs) as they had to come out with something new and with the work put into the Vision Pro, this is probably the best they could do (and for many, this is going to be one fine machine, though for the majority, it’s over kill).

  • Updated MacBook Air could launch at WWDC 2022

They’ve released hardware at WWDC before, but it is rare. They could do it again and I hope they do. The M2 better have the ability for more ports though, even if they choose to only add more ports to the Mac Mini. I sure hope though that the new MacBook Air is a worthy update and not just a mere cosmetic update.
