Apple TV+ releases second Billie Eilish documentary trailer
sdw2001 said:The fact that there would be a documentary made about this 18-year-old who knows absolutely nothing about life and who constantly lectures everyone on “wokeness” is hilarious. Almost as hilarious as watching a 17-year-old Miley Cyrus “coach“ American idol musicians. I have nothing against her music, although I don’t know it very well. What I object to is the unbelievable arrogance and entitlement of her generation, and the one preceding it. She makes millennials look selfless and only interested in “doing work.”
I think how these reactions play out in art forms like music is fascinating, and hence while Elish's music may not always be my cup of tea, her ideas will live much longer than I will. Better to come to terms with understanding and appreciating them within their audience then to assume they must subsume to mine. This is why it makes sense for Apple to pursue a documentary like this.

Apple TV+ releases second Billie Eilish documentary trailer

Honestly, I like it when any streaming service has at least some focus on documentaries, regardless how interested I may or may not be in the subject. You don't have to necessarily like Elish's music to have a curiosity about how a left-field pop star comes to be, and the collaborative relationship between her and her musical-savant brother. There's such a flood of scripted comedy/drama, some of it great, much of it awful, that a counterpoint opportunity to learn about something for an hour or so is a nice breather. I hope Apple pursues more opportunities like this as it fleshes out the ATV+ catalog. -

Hewlett Packard Enterprise leaving Silicon Valley, moving to Texas
Texas has some interesting ideas about tax rebates for business—some of the most generous in the entire country. It's a no-brainer to relocate there if you can pull talent. Austin is an interesting and diverse city, lots of viewpoints and ideas (and Apple has a huge presence there). Houston is genuinely not terrible either, really, outside of its weird (read: non-existent) zoning laws. Hope you like a factory moving in next door. I've traveled to Houston a lot for business (well, used to) and found I didn't hate it as much as I expected I would.
But talking about a state like Colorado as "ruined" is pretty funny, given the concentration of wealth and entrepreneurship here. My home state of Wisconsin, tho... now there's a backwater. I have no desire to ever return. Beautiful scenery, especially up north, but culturally... scary place. -
Comparing AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon's unlimited 5G wireless plans for iPhone 12
Whew, I had no idea the monthly costs had gone up so much. These prices are nutso. I knew VZW and ATT were stupid expensive (which is why I left ATT years ago, among many reasons), but TMob used to be really cheap—I have an older plan on TMob with all the same specs/limits as Magenta Plus (but no Netflix subscription—whooptido), two lines, $72 a month. All included. I already confirmed with their (very nice) customer service that I can keep that plan even if I upgrade to a 5G phone.
I feel for people who only need one line on any of these plans, they're getting screwed.
