  • iPadOS 26 fixes nearly everything wrong with the platform after everyone already left

    Wes writes:

“If you’ve never used Screenshot X or Paste, you’re missing out on macOS. Apple’s built-in screenshot tool is fine, but with Screenshot X I can grab a transparent PNG of a window and drop it into an image editor with a background already prepared and export it a second later.”

I don’t see a version of Screenshot X for macOS. Does he mean CleanShot X?
Yep! I'll fix that, thanks. You can tell I don't Mac much.

  • iOS 26 is here with Liquid Glass redesign, new Camera, and Apple Intelligence promises

We like passion about design, but cool it with the silly insults. Thanks

  • Apple appeal to pause injunction enforcement allowing external linking fails

    neoncat said:

Apple's services revenue could take a hit, but it remains to be seen how many users will actually take advantage of the external links when in-app purchase is still an option. Customers could become confused by being pulled out of an app or game and suddenly asked to fill out a payment form.

It's not that big of a mystery, at least in the case of Fortnite. Sweeney indicated the split of purchases since its return to the App Store is about 60/40, in favor of Apple's in-app payment system, although it continues to trend toward 50/50. Seems some people like having a choice, and some people like sticking with what they know. Everyone wins?
The purpose of this statement wasn't to suggest winners or losers, just speculation on how much impact the move will have. That 50% still use IAP is a sign that Apple has a chance to make the courts happy and still make money.

  • Five more iOS 26 features leak from a reliable source

These are niceties, but not features. I watched Goolge I/O and MS Build. There was nothing but AI. If Apple doesn't quickly change their AI game, they will fall behind massively. Siri cannot stay as it currently is.
I think that Google I/O and MS Build being nothing but AI is a detriment, not a positive. It shows a lack of innovation and individualism while chasing the current fad with features that will never launch as demoed.

The AI grift will eventually end and people will be in the forums here claiming Apple is behind in something else soon enough.

  • Trump trade war delays Apple Intelligence's debut in China

China gonna China. But it's not like everyone is clamoring for th current version of Apple's AI.
Srsly. I use the enterprise version of ChatGPT almost every day for real work. All I’ve used apple intelligence for is Genmoji.

Anybody arguing Apple isn’t behind is either a hopelessly delusional fan or just knows nothing about what others in this field are doing.
Has Apple ever stated that they even want to compete with ChatGPT? To the best of my knowledge they haven’t. I mean, Apple is also behind in DHCP servers, they are behind on their ride share app, they are behind on a lot of things because they don’t compete in spaces. You are starting from a faulty premise. Why does Apple need a chatbot? No one has really answered they. They just kind of assumed that they do and then declared them behind. ChatGPT is great. I haven’t dabbled much with Gemini, Co-Pilot or whatever Meta calls their thing but I could. All of these things are available on my iPhone and Mac. As a user I am not missing out on anything and all of these chatbots need a platform to run on. Apple has some of the most popular platforms. And going a step further, no one is making a profit off their chat bot. The only company making money is NVIDIA. So, what exactly is the issue, I’d love for someone to explain it without just mindlessly repeating the “Apple is behind”narrative.
Apple is really far behind in electric bikes, stoves, and pens. They better get on it.
