  • Reddit client Apollo is shutting down on July 1st -- please decline your refund

Why should anyone decline a refund for a service they paid for is being shut down? This developer is a great person but Apollo isn't a charity although at times he gives IAPs to charity nothing indicates that declining a refund would go to a charitable cause. He's made a lot of money, I mean a lot of money over the years and knew the risk building a business off another business and that risk finally materialized like it always does.
Because the annual subscription was something like $25. Anyone who paid it doesn't miss that money, but owing Apple $250,000 in prorated refunds will certainly hurt. He's done ok, but don't overestimate what a developer makes just because they run a popular app. These people aren't millionaires.

It's your choice to not get refunded of course. But we all agree that declining the refund is the respectable thing to do.

  • iPhone vs Android: Google Bard has picked a winner

We entered the prompt, "Which do you prefer: iOS or Android?" and it [chose] iOS as its preferred option.

...like other chatbots, Bard isn't intelligent.

As per the above article quote, AppleInsider is basically telling us that Bard's choice of iOS over Android "isn't intelligent."  But clearly AppleInsider is lacking intelligence because iOS should be AppleInsider's "preferred option" as it is mine.  If it isn't, for goodness sake, why are well all here and not in an Android-lovers forum?

    Sheesh!
I say this with all sincerity... what?

Hope this is a satirical response because that's not the meaning of that statement.

Yeah, we thought it was pretty odd that Apple had a giant logo on its secret facility. :D

  • Apple co-founder selling 14,100-acre property to The Wildlands Conservancy

He couldn’t just gift the land instead?
Sure he could have. Easily. But he could have sold it to a sociopath real estate developer, too. Be thankful he didn't.
It could have been much worse. From the source:
"Had the property been purchased by a private buyer, its zoning would have allowed for at least 60 ranchettes and luxury home sites."

So it's great it went the way it did. Now Apple TV+ needs to commission a doc series about constructing the rebuilt tribal town and the efforts of those on the new preserve. Call it "Conservation Dogs"

  • Apple share price closes at an all-time record high thanks to Vision Pro speculation

"Apple Inc. market capitalization reaches all-time high," or" Price of all Apple shares combined closes at all-time record high."

No, this is wrong. The headline is correct. Market capitalization is below $3 trillion. Apple has previously exceeded $3 trillion. The share price is at an all time high, because it has never been higher than this price accounting for splits.

Market cap is just the number of shares multiplied by the share price. The number of shares has decreased significantly over the past few years due to buybacks. Other market effects are in play, but this is the primary reason the share price can be at a record high without being at a record high market cap.
