very true. China has been bullying the usa on trade and us companies by stealing their ip and even controlling their data. We called them out, They panicked and tried to double down with the tariffs and are now in a tough spot. There is a lot of nuance being revealed. We’ll see how it goes but at least American companies are being looked after, whether with pauses or exemptions. 

If my family rents a house from a landlord and that landlord charges them an extra amount bevause we aren’t from that neighborhood, and that same landlord goes to my car dealership to lease a new vehicle, I’m going to Jack up his price too. What’s fair is fair. Now if he wants to stop being a bully and stop the ridiculous additional fees, then I’ll do the same. Equity and parity is all I wanted to begin with. 

Why are you constantly playing the victim? I sincerely do hope that one day you can take an honest look at yourself and will have the humility and intelligence to make the necessary changes to be better than what you present on this forum.

It’s not “playing victim” when righting a wrong. That’s called justice.

Ah yes, since dear leader had such a strong backbone and backed off of his tariffs the second the bond markets tanked and his Republican supporters threatened not to pass his "Big Beautiful Bill." Trump should really try reading that book he didn't write where it says changing the conditions of a deal is tantamount to failure.

To all the people saying we don't need China, where are we supposed to get all of our rare metals from? Do you not remember all of the stuff you couldn't buy during COVID because of China's massive decrease in exports and yields? Are your memories really that short?

It seems you are the one that doesn't understand how tariffs work. The tariffs enacted by the Trump administration were calculated using the trade deficit divided by the exports. That's not how you determine what China's tariffs are on US goods.

China's original rate was less than 5%, but now they've got no choice but to respond to the US tariffs. The only way prices go down on imported goods is if the US lowers tariffs, not China.

All tariffs are a tax on the country that imposes the tariffs. It is basic economics. The US government tried to impose tariffs in the 1930s to save the economy, but spoiler! It failed and led to the great depression.

You go from "it seems like you are the one that doesn't understand how tariffs work" to writing false statements of tariffs creating the great depression and alluding to them only being tried in the 1930s.  

The great depression was NOT caused by tariffs, and in fact tariffs have been utilized since the country's founding, and accounted for up to 95% of the revenue to the government up until the income tax was created in the early 20th century. 

I didn't say that tariffs caused the great depression. The great depression occurred in spite of tariffs. My mistake for not being more clear on my point.

Oh, I didn't say tariffs are bad. Trump's tariffs are bad and stupid. But convenient of you to deliberately misunderstand me.

Not to mention that you conveniently miss the fact that the reason the income tax was implemented was because tariffs disproportionately affected lower income Americans, where the income tax meant the rich paid their fair share and improved the economy.
