When I worked at an Apple store our water fountain broke.  Rather than fix it, Apple ordered bottled water by the pallet load.  We had cases of plastic water bottles stacked everywhere.  The men’s bathroom was turned into a store room for cases of bottled water.  Everyone had to use the women’s bathroom.  The hallway To the rear of the store was barely passable because of all the cases of bottled water.  Everyday we went thru a couple hundred bottles of water.  I was a new hire at the time and was considerably older than most of the kids working in the store.  I assumed that they had a special container for all this plastic so it could be recycled but I was wrong.  They laughed when I asked about recycling the hundreds of plastic bottles that were being generated by the Apple employees at this store.  It all went straight into the dumpsters at the back of the store along with all the paper waste that was generated at this store.  So when I read stories about how Apple is such a good corporate citizen regarding the environment, I just roll my eyes and cough BS.  I DON’t DRINK their KoolAid anymore.
