  • Apple updates 'Magic' accessories to USB-C, included with M4 iMac

Why can't we have the Magic Keyboard (TouchID) without numeric keypad with black keys? Why? Why? Why? 😭

  • Magic Keyboard, Magic Trackpad, & Magic Mouse may soon be upgraded with USB-C

I just want a USB-C version of the Apple Keyboard with TouchID in black/silver. Not the extended keys version that already exists. Backlit would be a bonus but I'm not holding out much hope for either.

  • Window Tiling in macOS Sequoia is Apple's third try to fix a problem

Moom and Spaces for the win! (unless Apple offer more customisation in Window Tiling, but I doubt they will).

  • Is Apple Intelligence artificial?

Eventually the world, IT and media will wake up to AI being another self-sustaining literal artifice. It is not Skynet or Colossus (showing my age). AI as proposed by the likes of OpenAI, Google, Microsoft et al is yet another opportunity to pull data from subscribers. In this case it goes far beyond shopping history or web searches, delving in to the very fundament of a person. Their dreams, ambitions, projections, desires, weirdness - all become digitised, documented, harvested and no doubt, distributed and monetised.

Case in point - recently a local barista was discussing with me his idea for a new business opportunity and mentioned that he'd run it through Chat GPT for analysis - I have no idea how, what questions he posed etc. I was just amazed that he had subjected his ideas and plans to an unproven technology which could quite easily, inadvertently, make those plans widely accessible to the rest of the ChatGPT subscriber base. Someone else picks up the inference, takes action and suddenly yon barista's dream and ambitions are usurped. Your AI dollars at work.

The great 1992 movie Sneakers put it well:
'There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!'

It's still true and modern AI seems another attempt to dehumanise us by asking us now to give up our creativity and thought processes to the machine.

Apple Intelligence - using the data you hold within your personal device and using that in productive and instructive manner seems more akin to what most believe AI should purport to offer. The reality of modern day AI, not Apple Intelligence, smacks vastly different.
