  • Apple believes Spotify wants a free ride, and the EU may just give it to them

Free ride? I have paid for my device. That comes with both the hardware and the software. What exactly is Apple doing here for Spotify?

The only one excuse they have is the AppStore, but then allow people to move off it.

Now this would mean a more fragmented app landscape, and possibly a less secure one, but when the execs at Apple can’t see past their greed, there is not much option left.

The sane option here would be to let people pay for in-app purchases without asking for a cut.

They can still make money off App Purchases, which is the model most small developers use.
Not entirely true on your first line. You, as a consumer always licenses a software based on the terms the company set. This is same as any computing device ever made. You do not own it....just license to use based on how they designed.

  • Apple now blocking new installs of sideloaded iOS apps on M1 Macs

Really Apple. When you buy a laptop you should be able to load whatever you want on it.
As a developer, I don’t want people to install my product on devices for which I did not license it to. Those apps were developed and licensed by developers for use on specific platforms. This is a valid scenario which Apple is right in blocking it. If you want something just get the right product for the device.

  • Epic sues Apple after Fortnite removed from App Store

I have no problem buying an app from the App Store... but Apple should not collect on in-app purchases or subscriptions as they have provided no value to it.
These developers have designed their own commerce systems at their expense... why should Apple get any piece of it when their system doesn't touch it?
If the concern is that companies will make everything on the a App Store just a gateway - then Apple can charge the developers for hosting and marketing their products on the store - as the only way to download apps is through the store.
I think you are mistaken. The so called developers you mentioned are using Apple provided tools and technologies to develop the iOS apps. If they don’t want to use this, they are free to use the web apps. You cannot expect all free lunches without paying the company. This also protects them from the patents as Apple licenses them and provides them to developers. Why do you think none of the developers get sued for anything they do? Cause Apple Is paying for those patents.

  • Apple reportedly pushes Foxconn to invest $1B to expand iPhone manufacturing in India

I thought the same ...  why not the US! ... then read that 6000 new jobs would be created. Average factory pay in India is about $2/hr - some say even robot cost average $4/hr! As long as slave labor wages are an option, factories that need this many humans will not open in the US.
its funny anytime there is a discussion of low cost, it’s called slavery!!!whats two dollars in usa is almost rs 150 per hour in India. Which means more than 25k per month to assemble phones which is a blue collar job. I don’t see any slavery there. Companies that sell product world wide need to reduce their costs as mush as they can. Apple is head quartered in USA but more than half of its sales are outside the country. Same for every company. Also, case in point for American manufacturing costs, read about under armor.
