    So when is Apple going to fix the keyboard gaps in their lineup? My aging Magic Keyboard v1 is waiting for Apple to replace the chiclet keys. Any news on when this is coming?

    On the bright side the MBAir M1 is a pleasure to type on. Even the overpriced iPad floating stand thing has a decent keyboard. 

    On the other hand, my MacBook having gone through a keyboard replacement via AppleCare has an NFG keyboard again. Sadly just outside the 4yr window so the repair cost now is twice it’s worth. Sad.

    Good reason not to meet if you’re already developing a competitive product. You can’t be excused of acting in an underhanded manner. 

    Apple likes to go it alone. That’s a strength but can also be a weakness.

  • Apple working on technology to finally allow iOS devices to support multiple users

    It’s the right thing to patent. Yet I doubt that we will see it deployed on the iPad. Apple would rather sell everyone their own device. 

    What does make sense, with the convergence of MacOS and iOS, is for you to login to your own “account” on any device, anywhere, to use your apps and work with your data. 

    Similarly, all versions of the Apple Watch should work independently of an iPhone.

    The device should be secondary.

    By removing the charger, Apple can make the boxes thinner and pack more in the same volume-weight metric, thus saving a significant amount in shipping costs. This is, I believe, is the main motivation. The rest is spin. 

    Apple could have passed on some of those savings and that would have been fair. 

    The ratio of chargers to devices is going to remain constant as older devices are passed on. There isn't a surplus of chargers as Apple contends!

    Andrew, come on! You missed the most obvious questions: how do you answer a call? How do you unlock the phone to make a call via Siri? Any other magic that happens when the case is on?

    If Apple has nailed those usage concerns this could be a great accessory for many. Especially those who don’t need to be checking their FB feed incessantly :)
