I suspect your comment “a lot of the iPhone is not really custom either. From the displays to usb c ports, much of the device is available to other companies from the same manufacturers” is factually incorrect..saarek said:“designed and built in the United States.”. I think that most people, even Americans, would consider that wording to mean that a company came up with the design in the USA and that said company then manufactured said device in the USA for sale.
However, I suppose one could say that designing the phone by selecting parts already on the market and then building the phone by having the various parts put together in their final stage in the USA would, technically, qualify.
I mean, if a person ‘designed’ their own prefab house from, say, Sweden, by using a website that lets them pick and choose parts. And then that person arranged for a local builder to put it all together they could claim that they “designed my own house and had it built by a local builder.”
To be fair, a lot of the iPhone is not really custom either. From the displays to usb c ports, much of the device is available to other companies from the same manufacturers.

The sooner this manchild is called out by corporate America, the sooner we can all get back to normal. Otherwise America is going to be the main looser in all of this. European consumption of American goods and services is plummeting. Tesla sale in some EU counties is down 80%. Coca Cola sale are in free fall. McDonalds in UK has seen a 20% drop in sale since Jan. Travel from Europe to America is down 30% in 2025. Europeans historically have spent trillions of $ on American goods and services, and people are now buying local to spite the manchild… i suspect corporate America is hurting and will continue to do so.

There is more to the ledger than financial numbers…. American soft power and political objectives were support by European countries. In terms of dead Americans involved in wars, yeah you charged European countries dearly for that… UK repayments only finished in 2008. And if you want to talk about war dead, European countries have plenty war dead supporting the American war “ on terror” so there will be no lectures about that, thank you Chinese Govt didnt steal your jobs…. American business in the greedy pursuit of profit maximisation went to China…. my own country just has the general 10% tariff applied, so I reckon we won’t notice it. The risk for us is our massive trade surplus with China (that surplus means China has us by the short and curlies), the reverse situation for China with the USA (which will have China by the short and curlies). If China contracts and stops buying our minerals, well….
