The 12 mini is about the same size as the iPhone X, and the base model significantly larger. The X is much larger than 8, which is larger than 6 etc.
The 12 mini is HUGE compared to the 4 or 6.

I just don't see the point of this product. Personally I'd prefer a much smaller iPhone, back to the iPhone 4 form factor.

I don't want a tablet in my pocket, the iPhone 4 form factor was perfect. Actually I'd pefer the camera to be a separate device tightly integrated with the phone.

watchOS also rumored to get visionOS design elements
Apple Watch with its tiny screen is a perfect fit for Apple Intelligence which would allow more complex tasks to be performed with voice commands. It only seems natural that Apple is pursuing and prioritizing getting Apple Intelligence to the watch.
Specialized AI models can be made really tiny, so technically it's no problem to run quite capable models on-device now. But it'd likely make sense to offload more resource intensive tasks to any iPhone or other nearby device when available.
