I have very serious issues with the dictatorship called the EU.
The fact that a democratically elected government is "dictating" rules that all businesses — even foreign ones — need to follow (we call them "laws") does not make them a "dictatorship".

You'd just rather not have to follow the law.
The aspect that I find troubling, if indeed the statement in this story is correct, is that the DMA and penalties sighted as a remedy for failure to comply, namely: "Under the DMA, the EU has the power to levy a daily penalty of up to 5% of its average daily worldwide turnover. In Apple's case, that potentially means up to $1 billion every day.", in my view is ridiculously punitive and draconian. I agree, if a business such as Apple or any other business operating, selling, manufacturing, marketing etc  products and services should abide by the applicable laws in which that division or business operates. However the extrajudicial enforcement of claiming penalties on world wide revenues is ridiculous. Of course, countries, regions, etc can set whatever laws they like, including punitive ones like these, but to me this seems very prejudicial to penalize a companies revenues that it earns on products and services outside the jurisdiction in where it is alleged it is contravening the laws of the land....

  • World rocked as YouTubers prove you can eventually break an iPad

Good grief, "World rocked....", hardly. May I suggest a  little less hyperbole is warranted in the headline, and perhaps more substantive research into a story that seems hardly worth reporting on.... at least the way this editorial (if you can call it that) has been published in its present form....

  • Stolen AirPods give up thief's location with Find My

I had my bag stolen in San Jose, CA in 2022. Contained in the bag along with an iPad and other work items, were AirPod Pros. The AirPods pinged and located the thief in Hayward, CA at a residential address. I called and reported it to the San Jose police to follow up on my earlier report of the theft and loss, and the police said - “Oh, it probably gone now so you can just call back on Monday between the hours of 8am to noon, to update your case number report…. In other words they had no intention of doing anything - and they said as much directly to me on the phone with the provided information……they did absolutely nothing! Very disheartening - but not at all surprising.

  • US says NSO Group & Pegasus hacking tool are national security risks

Does this mean the NSA, CIA, FBI and all the other entities will have to stop using their copies? I would like to know how many copies of these systems have been sold to the US government as well as state and local police forces.
No -  This in my view is standard tactics. It means that the government publicly repudiate these entities and disavow the use of these tools to all entities outside the government, but within government its business as usual - including the use of such tools. This is all about control, and outlawing the use of such tools by private citizens/enterprise with the exception of government. The efforts will now continue, but covertly - all while the public at large believe the narrative. This is really a subterfuge tactic.

Very nice!  I'm so tempted to pull the trigger on a similar machine...
Don't wait too long or you won't get it until next year.  I just refreshed and now shipping dates for that config are Dec 10 - Dec 23rd (!)
Yes - wouldn't wait too long. I noticed when I placed my order, the eCommerce site seemed to be a bit laggy - bogged down no doubt because of all the traffic perhaps?
