  • Exclusive Q&A with Sean Murray, CEO of Hello Games and creator of 'No Man's Sky'

Lots of weasel words. Which is not a criticism of Sean in the slightest, he needs to represent the reality of running a business, but I think it's pretty obvious that this game wouldn't have existed on the Mac if Apple hadn't helped the development and there's zero guarantee anything else Hello Games creates will make it to the Mac similarly.

It's worth remembering this game is nearly 7 years old. The thread over at MacRumors about the release is full of people who are like, "cool, but I already played this on [name of other platform] ages ago."
So you don’t play poker because it’s too old, it being from the 18th century? Or checkers/chess? Or Uno? Or Blackjack?

Age or platform port of video games should be irrelevant at this point. There’s always new players and the repayable factor.

PS - I think you’re reading into Sean’s comments to see what you want to see. Pretty sure you could just ask him these questions, rather than speculate, if you think AI wasn’t hard-hitting enough. Also, nothing about running a business says you have hedge or lie. (Additionally, you don’t know how much editing AI had to do for length/conciseness.)

  • TikToker shocked by high Verizon bill over 'free' Apple Watch promo

The $600 charge was probably from the one they gave away to a friend. These are usual “free” if you carry the $10 a month in cellular. Once the unit switched to a different account/service, they were billed the full amount.

A lot of tiktokkers are not the brightest bunch and like to invent drama for hits. This seems less a shady dealer than a customer that a) accidentally or willfully didn’t understand what they were told, b) made a big deal on social media to pad their views and get a deal they wouldn’t have normally.

  • Biden administration: Apple & Broadcom should quit stalling and pay Caltech $1.1 billion i...

What the heck is up with this administration???

this is a PRIVATE SECTOR DISPUTE!

Let the justice system play out. It’s not like the Biden family hasn’t been doing much stalling of their own.

There is an order and process to things.

The Biden admin needs to remember that this is America and not some communist dictatorship.
Not germaine to this topic, factually challenged, and proffered by someone with no clear expertise in the relevant topics.

    Begone, Troll-o-matic.

  • TSMC thinking about moving some operations to Japan amid growing China tensions

I think it’s interesting that we’ve had criticism of the administration here designating less than $60 billion for direct chip manufacturing support, while the Japanese government is giving around $400 billion, from an economy that’s about 40% the size of ours. Unless people here understand we need to get serious about this (and other matters) we’re going to be left behind. It’s gotten to the point where chip manufacturing has gotten so expensive, and the industry’s sales have stopped growing to support these increased costs, that without extensive governmental monetary help, it will collapse here.
$400 billion? Do you learn math from the athletic?
I’m a bit confused by that statement, too. Current exchange rate says that’s 9.4 billion U.S. Dollars, not $400 billion.

  • Apple's headset drastically changed over time & top execs are skeptical

    nubus said:
Don’t believe it. Designed to lower expectations while the product blows people away. As initially a largely a developer tool, a sale at near cost is reasonable. The lower cost versions will make up for it.
You don't blow away people with an anti-social $3000 device requiring a battery belt.
And no one will by an expensive mobile phone without a keyboard.
You meant “physical keyboard” and the analogy is extremely poor.
