  • Apple's plan to saturate all ages with iPhone, iPad and Mac is working

It's my experience that the over 45 crowd, particularly among developers, are Russian bot-level prejudiced against Apple products. The propaganda twisted crap that comes out of their mouths would make the trolls on the AI forums blush.

  • Samsung Galaxy Book 3 Ultra vs MacBook Pro 16-inch - compared

Why not start calling this place SamsungInsider. Any sales figures regarding Samsung laptops vs Macintosh laptops? I would venture Mac laptops outsell Samsung laptops by a wide margin because I have never, EVER, seen a Samsung laptop in person anywhere. All I ever see are HP, Dell, Acer, or Lenovo. To me this is like comparing iPhones to Pixels, top sellers to virtual non-sellers.

So what are the purpose of these Samsung comparisons in an Apple centric (maybe not Apple centric anymore?) tech blog? To encourage switching platforms? To validate ad revenue?

Oh stop. Many of us have either mixed gear in the household depending on family member’s needs or they have mixed platforms for work. Or both, frankly. So these types of comparisons are timely and relevant.

As for the “I ain't never seen no Samsungs around these parts” — I think your experience is limited. Different demographics or market segments trend toward certain manufacturors. And then there’s market by geography. Pretty sure we all have a clear picture of who buys Thinkpads, even if it's somewhat subjective. Anyway, point is that in my line of work I come across a lot of Samsung laptops and gear. Also, quite frankly, any Mac user should know better than to try to invalidate a particular manufacturer’s hardware based on market share.

PS - I see a lot of Pixel owners and they are incredibly handy to have if you’re a tester or developer, for a number of reasons. I think you have a distorted sense of qualifications.

China has no operating systems.  And soon, it will have no hardware platforms

Good luck developing them your own!
Don’t worry, they just put a skin on top of the OS or hardware and claim as their own. Like they did so many times before.
Now now … once upon a time U.S. citizens were the biggest of IP scofflaws. Stealing all manner of train, engine, and machinery designs from Britain and Europe.

  • Apple doubles its $1 billion investment in German R&D

It’s less decoupling from China so much as complementing its chip R&D in Israel, which has also been growing. And they’re only an hour apart, in terms of time zones.

At least that’s my opinion. It’s open for debate.

  • Apple looks like it's going to age-restrict AI chat agents

When I saw the headline, my first thought was: "Finally! We're going to prevent those who are over age 70 from getting involved with yet another technology that they cannot possibly understand." At some point, and especially within political circles, there really needs to be an age limit - on the other end. At least children have parents to protect them. But grandma and grandpa are free to cause irreparable harm to not only themselves but to everyone else on the planet, for generations to come. We don't need to be amplifying the crazy stuff they could possibly do by allowing them to tap into AI. Can't we just teach them how to use a TV remote first and call that a win?
You know what? FUCK YOU.! I’m 73 and am fully technologically literate. I probably know more about this stuff than you ever will, have been coding since I was 18 (Fortran back then) and am still the goto guy for most of my family when it comes to digital issues. Rear Admiral Grace Harper, the developer of the COBOL language, was Senior Consultant for DEC until her death at age age 85. Look her up. Ever wonder where the term “bug” came from regarding computers?

So you can take your ageism and stick up your ass. And no, my VCR clock never, ever flashed 12:00 all the time. But I’ve dealt with 30 year old morons who can't figure out how to turn on WiFi on their iPhones.

You detest old people but I bet you’re waiting for grandpa and grandma to die so you can get their money aren’t you, you despicable asshole.
Preeeeetty sure the original poster was using sarcasm to show that these types of age restrictions are pretty arbitrary and not backed by any rational or scientific proof. So maybe slow that roll whippersnapper.

If not, well then they are a cylindrical shaped appendage, Totes McGoats.
