HP Easy Start fails to install print drivers for macOS 12 and now 11.
I wiped my 2018 MacBook Pro and installed a clean install of macOS 12 Monterrey. I have a HP Color LaserJet M751 Enterprise printer and used the HP Easy Start app to install the drivers. The driver installation failed. I called HP and worked with their tech for about 2 hours. We were unable to resolve the issue. I can print via Air Print but I needed access to the trays. on 26 OCT 2021 I found HP upgraded the Easy Start. I ran the app and it also failed.
Easy Start worked under Big Sur so I wiped the drive again and installed macOS 11. The upgraded Easy Start app now fails under Big Sur.
I posted this on the MacRumors Forum titled Monterrey and HP Printers and theapplecynic has a bash command line solution that works very well. It doesn't see the M751 but does see the M750 which uses the same drivers.
I worked with HP for about an hour yesterday. We found no HP solution to install the drivers on either platform. The tech said this issue has been raised to Level III and should be resolved within the next several weeks.
