  • DOJ antitrust lawyers question Beeper over Apple's iMessage hack

So just that I get this right. Beeper essentially tries to hack the protocol in order to get over the end-to-end security in iMessages. So the DOJ lawyers are the to charge them with hacking, or to ask for help in hacking iMessages!?

  • UK has a rash of iPhone 15 Pro Max orders swapped for fakes during shipment

Is this the next thing we need to worry about with a new iPhone? If it is the courier then any Apple Store could also get saddled with fake devices without knowing it.
... and obviously make sure it's opened in the store accompanied by an Apple Technician BEFORE you pay.
Als long as the only support option seems to be an email to Tim Cook (and hope at least that will be responded too). Seems to be the only way.

Funny actually: I lifed in China once ... and pretty quickly developed the routine of opening ANY package and checking for the 'real'/'correct' content and that was actually standard procedure in any electronics store (they actualle showed you the device you bough and that it was working).

Sad China now starts to export their specific kind of criminality (counterfit fraud) deeper into the west.

  • Foxconn's expansion into India isn't going as well as hoped

Apple needs to figure out how to make their products using far fewer humans and far more robots/machines.
Turns out just treating  ultra-low-wage workers like robots alone won't solve it. People need also be desperate enough to work their asses off for too low wages.
I guess first China effectively killing millions of their people in their 'Great Leap Forward' by starving them to death and then dumbing the general populace down in  their 'cultural revolution' removed all the options for the Chinese in the 80's to work decent jobs in decent conditions.
Producing the manufacturing cattle we still see today in China (and every black sheep gets invited to tea by the local authorities only to disappear forever in a concentration camp/forced labour camp).

Turns out if people are not that desperate and surpressed. Like Indian laborers in the foxconn plants and (still! even) US labour in the ARM Chip plants you can't force them into indentures servitude in the name of shareholder value as you would like to do.
