  • DeepSeek's AI success is overshadowed by a serious security breach

It’s not so hard to build something, even an improve it, when someone else’s toil has paved the way - and when there are less ethical hurdles to slow you down.

Yes, that's what I always think about the US, that eventually droped it's ethics concerns and had their German 'prisoners'  build rockets to go into space and later on the moon. *sarkasm off*

Seriously EVERY 'new' invention is build on the shoulders of the scientists/researchers/inventors that came before ... and not all those inventions were used for purely ethical reasons.

  • The lack of Apple Intelligence in some regions is impacting iPhone sales

Totally agree ... the AI feature is a null feature in most of the world (like so many other). But since that was THE tent pole feature in the current run, why even bother with the iPhone 16? Only to realize years later - if (ever) that feature comes (like so many did not in the past) - that your then crappy old iPhone 16 is too underpowered to use the feature. So I kept my 12 Pro (in fact I bought a battery update right after the announcement of the iPhone 16).

Then again, its essentially a lie that China growth problem is due to the lack of AI features. China is declining for US products since the trade war was started by the convicted felon years ago and essentially kept by the Last President of the US ... the current US Führer will probably only accelerate this into a hot war. So tighten your belt, rough road ahead.

  • Much delayed next generation CarPlay is still coming, says Apple

Looking at the classical 'early adopter' for Apple in their cars (BMW). I bet they are preparing that for the 'Neue Klasse' that is due this year. (And as someone who lives close to their local test track here in Munich I can say those prototypes are rolling on the road already. I've seen them with my own eyes several times).

  • EU interoperability spat shows Apple and Meta will never agree about privacy

They have fundamentally different and opposing business models. One sells products that protect peoples privacy (mostly) the other sells people that give a damn about their privacy, as long as it's "free". What do you expect?

  • Apple is struggling to make Apple Intelligence comply with China's demands

    Farago said:
That Apple thought privacy was feasible in China is delusional.
Let's face it. China forces you to host services in China for Chinese customers. That will enable Chinese officials to access any data, that is on these servers. Pretty much the same with US hosted services that need to hand over private data to officials - not neccessary requiring a warrant (thanks to the CLOUD act).

Then again - what gets transferred to those servers is a different ball park, that's where the difference is. .... and obviously thanks to our "friends" in Israel even an iPhone can be hacked nowadays.
