  • Apple says excessive iOS 16 copy and paste prompts are a bug

I don't see any "copy and paste" bug on iPhone 14 Pro. Is there a specific pattern that triggers the bug?
What I have seen isn't an issue with pasting.  Pasting works like it did before.

The new prompt comes up when an app tries to read the clip board directly without you taking the action of pasting.  In previous versions of iOS an app could do that without you ever knowing.  Depending on what is in your clipboard (e.g. a password) that might be a big problem.

But there are legitimate reasons for an app to read the clipboard.  For example, Deliveries will scan your clipboard to see if it contains a tracking number that you might want track.  That is why Apple created a prompt instead of blocking the behavior.

But the prompt happens every time instead of learning when it is OK.

  • Tim Cook made it clear that Apple won't adopt RCS any time soon

RCS is a new communication standard that is not end to end encrypted by default.  That is simply not acceptable any more.  I don't think Apple, or anyone else, should support it unless that is fixed.  It has nothing to do with Apple Vs. Google.
