Apple Board of Directors shuffle sees Al Gore & James Bell retire
sconosciuto said:entropys said:Moving away from political appointments to sector knowledge is an improvement. And yes, CEO salaries are obscene. Does anyone seriously believe Tim Apple wouldn’t do the CEO job if it was one fifth as much (or one tenth)? Their salaries are well past the point the actual amount matters. It is which CEO position it is that matters, and if it doesn’t, they shouldn’t have the job. -
What do you want to see from AppleInsider in 2024?
No criticism from me. I really appreciate being exposed to other ways to consider things that the writers and readers, who are much more savvy than I, thoughtfully compose and then post here.
My time and $$ are well spent here. I plan to be here for quite a while, too.
Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas everyone! -
Apple and Goldman Sachs to part ways on Apple Card, no successor named
As one of the many “deadbeat” customers (as GS refers to those of us that pay our entire outstanding balance in full every month) I’m watching this closely. There needs to be continuity of what has so far been a higher quality experience than the majority of CC servicers out there.
I don’t see AMEX taking this on, not enough $$$$ in it for them, unless they add significant fees into the equation. AMEX won’t make the Apple Card experience better than it is, just more expensive, for customers as well as vendors that one day are able to accept the AC and then after the transition to AMEX would not be able to because of AMEX and their approach, something that won’t change just because it’s the Apple Card. There’s a reason that more businesses accept VISA and MASTERCARD than AMEX.As for AMEX and Apple Savings??But, as noted above, adapt and innovate or die. I’ve got my bowl of popcorn ready. -
Apple's Crash Detection saves another life: mine
I’m also very thankful for fall detection in my watch. Oh, it works very well! While attending a volleyball tournament that was very entertaining my exuberant applauding set off the countdown that I felt and cancelled just in time. After that experience, about a year later, I had just left an appointment and was walking to the stairwell to leave the building. While negotiating a perfectly flat linoleum covered concrete floor I failed to lift my foot high enough causing the rubber sole of my right shoe to leave a 9” rubber smear as I plummeted face first onto the floor. I was able to just barely get my “murse” in front of my chest to break my fall as my nose just ever-so-lightly grazed the surface. My watch started counting down as I’m laying there thinking how stupid this must have looked to anyone watching, but the next thought I had was that I needed to respond to the watch and cancel the call to the emergency responder's. Once again with just about 2 seconds to spare I was lucky to cancel the call.
So, YES, I count myself as someone that has benefited from this APPLE technology, it’s a comfort knowing I have it. -
