  • Apple Pay dominated the world in just ten years -- but it has more work to do

Apple Pay itself has always been a joy to use - but Apple Wallet is annoying to no end.  Once again today, I see a notification badge with a number in it on the wallet icon.  But the  app is so poorly written that, once you go into the Wallet, you have no idea which card caused the notification!   This poor user interface has been there forever :-(  And where is the global search?  I realize Wallet is for more than just credit cards, but come on! - why can't I do a keyword search across all cards?  E.g. if I recall buying a pair of jeans but can't remember which credit card I used, I have to manually go into each card and search individual transaction histories (usually by scrolling as none of the credit cards I have, other than Apple Card,  even has a search function!)

Other than that - I'm a happy camper with Apple Pay.

  • Apple is considering multiple paths for future Apple Vision Pro hardware

The “Holy Grail” option -  but with the iPhone doing all the heavy lifting - is the only one that would have mass appeal.  I have no idea why Tim Cook et al insist on doing everything in glasses (or even in the current VP headset) when there simply isn’t enough room for batteries to do all that computation onboard.  We all already have smartphones in our pockets - with AR glasses managed wirelessly from those phones, we could increasingly leave them there.  Such a product would not only allow for a gazillions of new use cases, but it would also help Apple sell yet more iPhones.

  • iPhone 16 Pro Max beats all comers in battery life test

Anecdotally - my wife and I upgraded from iPhone 15 Pro Maxes 8 days ago - the 16 Pro Max is actually doing worse.  Regularly now, by bed time our phones are 30% full whereas our 15 Pro Maxes were around 50% under same usage.  At first I thought it’s the usual initial battery drain as the data/apps/etc get downloaded again - and, maybe this time, some AI stuff gets initialized with data on our phones, but it’s now day 8 - and battery use still hasn’t recovered on either of our phones.  Ergo, battery is worse - at least for us - on the new phones.

  • Apple calling everything that it released 'intelligent' won't help it catch up

Echoing what @araquen  wrote, the author has no basis in fact to state (in the title) "Apple calling everything that it released 'intelligent' won't help it catch up" as there is no other company that is doing what Apple is doing with regards to AI.  Who does Apple need to catch up to?  Apple is infusing its existing features/functions with useful AI - and that includes the Apple Watch: just because Apple isn't running generative AI models on the watch itself doesn't mean that device's functionality can't be made more intelligent (via remote use of AI models if necessary).

  • Goldman Sachs is certain to lose millions when it sells off Apple Card

"Consequently, Apple Card balances are running at $17 billion " - consequently to what???  The previous paragraph talks about GM card balances and how Barclays is likely unwilling to pay asking price given the large charge-off ratio on GM card.  None of that has anything to do with Apple Card balances being $17 billion.  Poorly written article (there are also a few spelling errors).
