Trump blinks: Floats suggestion that Apple might get a tariff exemption
You might want to consider reading what you previously wrote :-)"but now, that may not have been necessary. Exemptions may not occur, and anything could happen or change at a moment's notice, so Apple may continue shipping iPhones in massive quantities to stockpile during the 90-day reprieve."
As you wrote yourself earlier in the piece, China is not part of the 90-day reprieve, so unless Trump specificially excludes Apple, Apple doesn't have 90 days to stockpile. -
Apple's C1 modem is a quiet game-changer that's mostly flying under the radar
"Apple is even working on integrating the C-series chips directly into its A and M-series processors. Which means, theoretically, we could finally get cellular Macs." It doesn't mean that at all! Whether the C1 is a chip by itself or on the processor itself is irrelevant to Apple's decision to produce a cellular Mac. Surely space is not a consideration on a Mac when a standalone C1 chip can fit into an iPhone? Also, while the author may root for paying for multiple cellular plans - I guess he must also enjoy paying for a separate plan on his Apple Watch? - I'd rather *occasionally* use the wireless hotspot and suffer whatever real (or imaginary) performance disadvantage that brings over a separate cell than *always* pay for a separate data plan. When Apple Watch first added cellular capability, I wondered if one could simply *switch* ones cellular plan from one device to the other - rather than have a separate one altogether. But that was never a supported capability. I still maintain that in today's eSIM world, it should be trivial for Apple to let this cellular "license" float among any of its devices; when the user goes from his iPhone to his mac, he ought to be able to push a button "move cellular here". Now, that would be a useful and money-saving feature. -
Apple is lying about Apple Intelligence, John Gruber says -- and he's right

When otherwise staunchly left-leaning Tim Cook isn't quite left enough for the left, they pounce.
Great job, folks. Great job.
My personal take on the topic at hand - Ok, Apple lied about an important feature - so what? Everything is fair in love, war and marketing. Apple's marketing is usually not as deceptive as competition and they are still far better than competition even after this situation. Of course. competition is not the gold standard for Apple to follow, rather Apple has to set the high bar for others to follow. But occasional missteps happen and that is inevitable. Is this misstep large enough for CEO to step down - I don't think so, considering the track record of the CEO in question for the last 10+ years. -
China threatens App Store probe in retaliation for trade tensions
CheeseFreeze said:This move from China is smart. What was Trump expecting? He'll eventually have to back off.
Meanwhile, unelected billionaire Musk is ravaging through government organizations, which is completely unconstitutional.
Why did Americans choose this joker? He is a serious danger to the world.
I was about to emigrate back to the US, but we cancelled it when the election went sideways. Who wants to live there? -
Apple reported to have killed the project to create Mac-connected AR glasses
If this really existed - not an assured thing in this rumor driven world - then it's the dumbest idea ever. Thanks god it was canceled! I could understand AR glasses tethered than iPhone - at least you could still experience AR's promise of augmenting the world with useful information as you moved through it. But what's the use of augmenting anything while you're sitting somewhere with your MacBook??? Add a virtual calculator or calendar to your office walls? Who'd walk around with a laptop in hand? Makes no sense at all.
