  • Apple may be trying to jump-start lackluster Apple Vision Pro sales

I adamantly disagree. I do not for a second recall Tim Cook stating upfront that the VP is a pro device and not for the everyday consumer. It was towards the end of 2024 that he admitted that sales were lacklustre and rumours began surfacing that production was either being slowed down or altogether halted.
So, please, let's have some accuracy in your reporting.
    Thank you.
While you're calling for accuracy in reporting, please link to the quote where Tim Cook "admits" that "Vision Pro sales are lackluster." I'll wait. And, by the way, it pretty much goes without saying that a $3500 headset is not for and never was intended to be for the "everyday consumer." To say or think otherwise is to be clueless about what the "everyday consumer" buys.
(I’m not the one whom you are quoting, but): It was a The Wall Street Journal article that Pema is referencing. It’s behind a paywall (and I’m not a subscriber). I don’t know for sure if Tim Cook explicitly said the words “lackluster” (that seems unlikely — he would probably have put a most positive spin on the low sales). But Tim Cook did discuss sales of the Vision Pro in that interview.

  • Apple now lets you transfer purchases from one Apple Account to another

What about people who have an Apple ID and purchases in the USA and another Apple ID and purchases outside the US?  (Not European Union, United Kingdom, or India)  Say for example, Japan.  Is the moving of purchases supported in that case?
Try changing the region of your Japan account to USA (or USA account to Japan) so both of your accounts are the same region. I am also in the exact same boat as you (USA and Japan accounts). I would check myself if that worked, but I have an Apple Balance on both accounts, so I can’t change my account region until that balance is gone.

I still keep both accounts active because there are some American apps (and whatnot) that I cannot get on the Japan App Store and some Japanese apps that I cannot get on the USA App Store. Which is annoying. I’d (of course) rather have just have one account and not have to switch back and forth to purchase and download something. So (whether it worked out not) I would still need to keep both accounts around and in use.

I am curious what would happen with some of the purchases that are region-specific (after you convert your account region). Would that region-specific stuff not be accessible? I have never converted either of my accounts to a different region, so I am not sure exactly what would happen. If anybody knows, please share your knowledge with me and jdw.

  • You can wear an Apple Watch on your ankle, but it's not the best idea for everybody

My friend works in one such clean environments and cannot wear any watches (or rings, bracelets and the like) because for health and safety reasons. Moving the Apple Watch to the ankle might be a good alternative.

I so love the convenience of TouchID on my SE3, superior to FaceID, I would say. Sad to see fingerprint sensor ditched on iPhones :(
Yeah,  why can’t we get an iPhone with under screen Touch ID?  Android phones have had that for years it seems.  Not everyone is keen to keep having their face scanned and hopefully there is no long term harm to the eyes.
Of the sun’s light that reaches the earth’s surface, about half of it is infrared. (With about 42% being visible light and the remaining 8% being ultraviolet.) You have been getting a face full of infrared light long before FaceID ever existed.
Yeah,  well remote controls use IR as well and they usually come with warning not to look directly at them.
I’ve never seen such a warning. I’m not saying you’re wrong. I just simply haven’t seen one.

I did a quick Google Image search and couldn’t find an example of such a warning (though maybe I didn’t search long enough). Do you have a IR remote at home that has such a warning? If so, could you please upload it so I can see it (if it isn’t too much of a hassle). If so, thanks.

Either way, IR TV remotes are perfectly safe (as is FaceID).
