  • Apple shares 'Foundation' recap ahead of season finale

I was very excited about Foundation before it started. Started watching the first episode on opening night and fell asleep. (Embarrassed) I decided to let it sit for a bit…

Then I saw Dune on the big screen and loved it. Watched Dune again on my iPad and I loved it even more. The visuals were, of course, diminished, but the story was tight!  I felt like the tension was unabated even having seen it through a week earlier.

Then I returned to Foundation and was able to binge 6 episodes. I found it extremely enjoyable also. Like others have said, once I accepted the fact that it wasn’t a direct re-creation of the book, I enjoyed it for what it was.

I think the overlap between the two is great and thought provoking—there is no need to “take sides” though it makes sense that
some people will like one more than another or dislike both, I suppose.

  • Apple could see record-breaking iPhone sales in Europe - if it can keep up

I can’t square the chart with the article. The chart is not labeled on the X-axis. Are the. Segments by month?  By quarter?
The article says Sammy had a YoY and a QoQ drop—that isn’t reflected in the chart.

Also, is Apple’s rebound due only to the 13?  Did the 12 not offer any bump at all?  Seems surprising unless somehow the only thing Apple has going for it right now in Europe is better chip sourcing…

Apple gets preferential treatment in close TSMC partnership

isn't this anti-competitive, monopolistic behavior? Break them both up! Force Apple to allow Intel to fabricate and supply the M1 no matter the die size. Just put in bigger fans. /s
It's just after 11:00 am and you may have already locked up today's award for the internet's most baseless, uniformed comment of the day.

No wonder your avatar is one of the three stooges.
Goodness!  Did you miss the “/s”

  • iPhone 13 Pro Max supports faster 27W charging, but only temporarily

It's my understanding that even with Apple's battery-saving tech, charging batteries that fast tends to degrade them faster.  I don't understand the difficulty in just charing them with a humble 5-watt charger overnight while one is sleeping.  I have an external battery pack to charge my devices when traveling when there are minimal charging options.

Does the strategy work? Well my bought at release iPhone 12 Pro Max currently has a battery health reading of 92%…
I am awful at battery care. I charge mine to the max whenever I can because I’m scarred from trying to keep my iPhone 6 with charge while limping along for 6 months on a dead battery—I made it till the X was released.

    I too have a 12 Pro now—acquired on day 1. It also has 92% battery health…

  • iPhone 13 orders start shipping, but you probably won't get yours until Friday

FedEX says “Scheduled future delivery.” Not sure that I’ve seen that before on their app but it all makes sense. Release date is the 24th, Apple is scheduling these deliveries ahead of time rather than the half-botched rollout from last year.
I think Apple has ALWAYS scheduled their deliveries ahead. These stories pop up every year—people get excited because they get a shipping notification on their new, flagship iPhone several days before the official release date.
I don’t specifically remember last year’s “botched rollout” (I picked mine up from a store and it was incredibly smooth despite extra COVID rules) but I assume that issues had more to do with pandemic dislocations than Apple not knowing how to manage a rollout.
