Apple Stores to use paper, not plastic, bags in environmental push, report says
gospelthegrey said:Huh??? The original purpose of switching from paper to plastic was to save trees. I guess the question is:
Kill a tree or fill a landfill?
Environmentalists are never satisfied.
Killing trees isn't so bad when you also plant them to ensure a steady supply in a sustainably managed way. Not to mention use of recycled paper so that it doesn't take as many trees to begin with. It isn't about being satisfied. It is about improving upon what you are doing if a better method comes along. -
Apple turning comparatively low profit on iPhone SE despite cheaper parts, analyst says
DrStock said:robjn said:The idea that Apple over-produced parts for the 6s just goes to show ignorance of how manufacturing actually works.
The development of a new phone takes at least a year to 18 months. Apple knew a long time ago that they would use the A9 in the SE. The idea that they decided to put it in because they made too many for the 6s is nonsense!
The manufacturing date on one chip in one phone is irrelevant, these parts do not necessary move through inventory on a 'first out - first in" basis. -
Apple flies original Mac team's pirate flag for company's 40th anniversary
sog35 said:How insensitive of Apple.
Hundreds of innocent lives are lost each year at sea from Pirates around the world.
It is about non-conformity and not actual Piracy, but you knew that. Take you faux PC rage elsewhere. -
Apple iPhone SE teardown reveals mashup of iPhone 5 & 6 series chips, few new parts
rob53 said:Why are you saying Apple's parts come from a "parts bin"? This term is used for antiquated parts, usually from garbage PCs, but never from Apple products. Using this term, then saying it's also using parts from the iPhone 6s makes it sound like the 6s is also using old parts. Just because Apple is using some parts from the 5s doesn't mean those parts aren't any good. I see the iPhone SE as a smaller 6s, not a reloaded 5s. Give it its due instead of making fun of it. -
Who would actually use the selfie flash on a 9.7" iPad Pro?
If you're going to take a selfie with retina flash, you should use the best device for that. The iPad Pro 9.7 has the largest display and can put out the biggest flash of light. If you're using your phone for selfies at home on the couch, you're doing it wrong. I know the article was tongue in cheek, but it was just dumb, somewhat insulting, and just a waist of time. Sorry I read it.
