Australian banks call alternatives to NFC 'unrealistic' in fight to avoid using Apple Pay
We can only hope the ACCC tells them to shut up and sign up for Apple Pay. The banks are basically admitting that most of their customers would benefit from it and they are withholding it simply because they want the transaction fee to go to their app development team instead of Apple's. Let the money go to Apple and this is done. -
Nine Years of Apple's iOS SDK generated $60 billion, 1.4 million jobs
ireland said:I'm highly suspicious of that 1.4 million jobs number. I imagine a number of those so-called jobs are not earning a living wage.
Because App developers don't get paid well? Where is your reasoning? 2.2 Million apps in their stores in 155 countries. Sure you could get one guy cranking out 20 apps over time, but you are also going to have large game and productivity app teams that have a very large staff working on a single title. These are not generic Apple created jobs like retail store staff, fedex guys delivering phones, etc... These are jobs related to app development worldwide. -
Apple declares second-gen Apple TV 'obsolete,' halts most hardware support
I have a 2nd gen and 3rd gen Apple TV. There are no problems whatsoever with the 3rd gen unit. It always works every time we turn it on. The 2nd gen unit seems to have some software problems. It loses connection to Apple and has to be restarted to recover. Most of my obsolete Apple products still function as they hit the obsolescence mark with pretty solid software. Guess I have to consider buying a new one and retiring the 2nd gen. It isn't that huge of a deal given the price and how much we got out of it. It has just performed below Apple's standards from my perspective. Now the problem of trying to figure out when the 5th gen will come out and if I should wait for it.
