  • Apple threatened to pull Facebook from the App Store over human trafficking

Bad things happen when a communications company is headed by a sociopath.

  • Apple's 'flat out victory' will cause problems for antitrust regulatory efforts

    Success is not illegal. This.

So many people believe that large margins cannot possibly be sustained without a monopoly.

Latest iPhone market share figures I can find:  US - 55%, Worldwide - 14%.  You cannot, unless you are totally ignorant or shameless or both, claim that the iPhone is anywhere close to being a monopoly.

Instead of celebrating that a US company has the chops to design (yeah, not assemble) a product that is so good that despite intense competition, customers are willing to pay a premium price for it, some people tear it down for achieving success the honest way: by offering a great product.

  • New malicious Lightning cable can steal user data from a mile away

The cable was designed by a 'security researcher' for use by 'researchers and penetration testers'.  So it's supposed to be made with the best intentions for ethical use.

But they chose to make it indistinguishable from standard cables.

Yeah right, their motives are all above board.

  • Pay up or get out: Apple's options for South Korea's App Store law

I can’t tell you how many times I hear “but that would be unfair to China”
I've never ever heard or read anyone say that in the US, especially in this forum.  Practically everyone knows, just from daily shopping experience looking at product labels and info, that Chinese companies are doing very well in the US.  Maybe you hear that being said many times because you live in China?

  • South Korea ends Apple, Google control of app store payments

People are arguing for reasonable commissions for those use cases that resolves a big discrepancy in pricing that we are seeing today.
I see big complaints about the 'unreasonable' 30%commission all the time and have never yet seen one credible argument about what is reasonable.  "I don't like it" or "that sounds large" is not a reasonable argument.  How much does Best Buy etc. tack onto the wholesale price when they self software?  How much do retailers in general tack on?  I know 30% is not uncommon, might even be on the low side.  People think the commission should be more like a finders fee where the finder does nothing except refer customers.  It's not as if Apple doesn't incur costs running and maintaining the App Store.
