Apple expands iPhone XS and XR trade-in program countries around the world
StrangeDays said:lenn said:The only way Apple will ever lower the price of it's iPhones is if people stop buying them. But Apple knows there's millions of suckers that need the latest and greatest and will fork down $1k or more for a new iPhone every year.
Btw, I'm still using a BB9900. I'm not paying $800 or more for a damn phone!
If you think a smartphone is just a phone, then you’re not an advanced user. You’d be better off with a flip phone to call your wife with or whatever. -

Apple came to Ireland to build a community, not skirt taxes, Tim Cook says
techconc said:xbit said:I believe Tim Cook when he says that Apple didn’t established an office in Ireland in 1980 for tax reasons. However, Apple’s Ireland base has certainly been a convenient vehicle for dodging taxes in recent years.Former Apple executives claim the almost tax-free status enjoyed in Irelandby the iPhone and iPad maker dates back to the firm’s arrival here 32 years ago. “There were tax concessions for us to go there,” said Del Yocam, who was vice president of manufacturing at Apple in the 1980s.
Another former finance executive, who asked not to be named, said: “We had a tax holiday for the first 10 years in Ireland. We paid no taxes to the Irish Government. ”
Apple wasn’t an exception, although it was among the last to enjoy such treatment. From 1956 to 1980, Ireland attracted foreign companies by offering a zero rate of tax.

Testing the speed of iOS 11 versus iOS 12 on the iPhone 6 and iPad Mini 2
entropys said:It would be interesting to see a comparison with an ios10 iPhone 6 when ios12 reaches final, but it might be a bit hard to find one. Mrs Entropy has kept her 6 plus on ios10 because she has heard ios11 slows it down too much.iOS 10 made my iPhone 5 very laggy and before that iOS 9 crippled my iPhone 4s. Apple shouldn’t allow iOS versions on hardware that can’t run smooth imo. So I understand that people in general are skeptical about new iOS releases.
If it was possible I would pay to downgrade these iPhones to iOS 6.
So far I’m happy with iOS 11 on 7 +.
