Not that much less than the Apple monitor then. And if you consider the rear ports, Center Stage camera, Spatial compatible speakers, the classy look and the high end aluminum construction instead of cheap plastic, the LG doesn’t seem like the better deal really.

The system was released at a time when no vaccine was available as a privacy-respectful way to notify people they could have been exposed and should quarantine.
Saying that money and efforts should have been directed to vaccination campaigns when no vaccine was available is just flatly wrong on its face. This was a great early tool which combined with masks and distancing could have helped stop the virus, if irresponsible morons hadn’t turned it (and still are) into a political issue. The absurdity of it all is staggering. I could almost understand early reluctance to the vaccine, but how incredibly stupid does someone have to be to reject mask wearing in the middle of a pandemic? Mind boggling.

Yeah… No. It’s happened many times in the past that companies were compelled to do something and were placed under gag orders so it would be a serious crime for them to leak that order. Not saying I have a strong opinion on this new feature one way or the other, but I’m not buying this argument.

Quick show of hands: how many people here are aware that the AirDrop settings are available in ControlCenter by pressing and holding the center of the radio section, right in between the four buttons (Airplane mode, Cellular, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth)?

Not really. Unfortunately most people fall victim to marketing and don't really understand what this alphabet soup of acronyms means. Bluetooth uses a default codec called SBC for stereo audio. Think of it as a lowest common denominator: ALL Bluetooth devices that do stereo audio MUST support this codec, so they're interoperable. Then each manufacturer can optionally support other codecs of their choice, such as AptX and variants. Apple has been using AAC on its headphones. It's an excellent, high quality codec and there isn't a person in the world capable of hearing the difference between it and AptX, I guarantee it. Its just that Qualcomm has put millions into communicating the message "AptX  = high quality sound" so people ask for it without even understanding what it is they're asking for -- they just know they want it.
Turns out, they already have something just as good in their AirPods or Beats headphones.
