macOS Sequoia 15.4 arrives with Apple Mail categories, password timers, and more
macOS Sonoma 14.7.5 is available for those on the older operating system as well as the newest Sequoia 15.4. I was offered both (Sequoia and Sonoma) on my Mac mini M2 Pro that was running 14.7.4.
There was also a Pro Video formats update as well as a standalone update.
As always Apple typically staggers the availability of software updates to lessen the load on their servers. If you don't see the update available right now, try again tomorrow or the day after.
There is nothing new about this, it has been like this for years and years (long before the pandemic). -
iOS 18.4 lands with more Apple Intelligence, Apple Vision Pro app
decoderring said:Wow, I think this is the first time I’ve ever not wanted to install an update.
I’ll do it because there are likely some security updates, but I wish it were possible to not have all the AI stuff that, for me, just creates bloat.
On an iPhone 16 that was factory reset, there was 232.74 GB free space available on iOS 18.3.2 (Apple Intelligence off, iCloud off).
I installed iOS 18.4, ensured that both Apple Intelligence was off (the iOS 18.4 upgrade did *NOT* enable Apple Intelligence) and iCloud remained unconfigured, and shut down the phone. I rebooted and the iPhone 16 had 232.18 GB free space left.
So we're really talking about a 560 MB delta between 18.3.2 and 18.4. If you already have iOS 18.3.x on your phone, you might as well upgrade to 18.4 regardless of whether or not you use Apple Intelligence features. -
WWDC will be on June 9 with iOS 19, Apple Intelligence updates, and more
People, the live presentations in front of a theater audience are long gone. Let it go. It's time to move on.
Apple are control freaks anyhow, the canned videos dovetail perfectly into how Apple likes to operate in 2025.
The live presentations originate from an era of tradeshows (like Macworld Expo) and when video streaming to people's smartphones wasn't a thing. The COVID-19 pandemic was the final nail in the coffin but they were headed this direction years before coronavirus. -
Seth Rogen's 'The Studio' might just be Apple TV+'s new 'Severance'
I agree that The Player (1992) was a likely inspiration for this show. In fact, at the beginning of The Player there is a 'oner' during which Fred Ward's character describes a 'oner' to another character (my memory is hazy but I think it was The Sheltering Sky by Bernardo Bertolucci).
The Player was also full of cameos and Hollywood self-referential to the core. Great movie (97% Tomatometer, 84% Popcornmeter so a much higher audience score than The Studio). -
Lumon Terminal Pro in Apple's online store is a master-class on media marketing
Good for Apple, they should milk this for all they can. (Disclaimer: I have never seen even a minute's worth of Severance.)
The media consuming public in 2025 is extremely fickle and soon they will move to something else. The window for a company to take advantage of this level of attention is extremely narrow these days.
