Apple gets green light to add 1,000 jobs at Irish headquarters

For sure they are all most welcome and Ireland would indeed be more stuffed than it is without the employment they provide, but this is not a one-way street. There is also benefit for the companies, otherwise they wouldn't be here.

There you go, take your pick and write to Tim with your suggestion. You might want to skip the UK. If one of your criteria is fluency in English, your choices might be a bit limited. How's Tim's Slovakian?

What is it with this DEDesque article that initially gives the impression Apple needed permission from someone to expand it's workforce? It's always got to be made out that the entire world is against Apple but that they miraculously prevail against all the evil forces opposing them. Apple applied for planning permission to build more buildings and it was given approval. That isn't close to being the same thing as implying Apple needed permission to employ more people.

Apple issues iOS 9.3.5 update, patching serious security issues discovered just 10 days ago

I suppose things could happen with out the user’s knowledge but these security flaws don’t seem to be used by typical criminals. Is it just governments and spy agencies that use this stuff?
My apps would no longer work because I could not update the software.
Also on my Android tablet I actually lost in app purchases. I bought $5 worth of dots. The tablet crashed and my dots were gone.
That's when I swore I would never own an Android tablet/phone ever again. POS.

US Treasury takes last stab at deterring tax judgment against Apple & Ireland
beowulfschmidt said:singularity said:How dare the EU investigate a potential breach of the rules and omg then enforce any ruling.
There is no punitive recovery if the deal between Apple and Ireland is found to breach the rules.
The problem is that if there was any wrongdoing, it was on the part of Ireland, or the Irish government, not Apple. However, the EU wants to punish Apple. This is a money grab on the part of the EU, plain and simple. They're thieves and racketeers operating under the color of law.
The worst possible outcome for Apple is that will just have to pay the taxes they should have paid in the first place, so they will be no worse off.
As an Irish tax payer, I can't tell you how much I would love to be 'punished' under the same terms Apple might be, should I ever be found to have not paid the appropriate amount of taxes.
