No touchscreens coming to pro Macs, says Apple's Phil Schiller
xzu said:Wait are iMacs Pro Machines? So thats the way we are going, mobile graphics only. A laptop motherboard behind a nice screen is Pro. A screen that is useless to me in 3 years because I need to upgrade other hardware. The least green machines available because of the pre-determined obsolescence.
The Apple pencil is amazing, make it ubiquitous.
The iMac is the best retouching workstation I have ever used in my life, and I fit the definition of a pro-user in every way. At home my 2012 iMac with fusion drive is now over 5 years old and the screen is not at all outdated. In fact I am willing to bet it is better than your screen (more accurate) unless you too calibrate your screen with a spyder Pro or equivalent. After 5 years, hardware does become outdated so I'll be getting this new iMac without a doubt, maxed out with every option like I always do. -
Apple plans new iMac configurations targeting pro users for later this year
Did Apple just say that they will upgrade the current form factor of the existing iMacs? This design is over 7 years old isn't it? While my 2012 iMac is still a fine pro machine for photoshop, like anybody else I'm always looking ahead to new design advances and hardware innovations. That Microsoft Surface Pro sure leapfrogged the current iMacs so I think Apple really needs to innovate some kick-ass new design into a brand new iMac, fast! No I don't need to touch my screen. You touch my screen I break your fingers!!
I admit I have no idea what I'd like to see, but that is not my job. Apple has always created things that I didn't know I needed until they showed it to me. Blow me away Apple! -
Urbanears launches Connected Speakers with built-in support for Apple AirPlay
zroger73 said:I'd hate to see AirPlay disappear. For me, it's easier to use, more reliable/stable than a Bluetooth connection, has a longer range due to Wi-Fi/Ethernet, and synchronizes between multiple speakers and with video better than Bluetooth.
They spend millions on R&D. The home market is huge. Why didn't Apple put out their own SONOS-destroying speakers years ago?
On the same note why don't they have all sorts of home automation devices? Why didn't they buy NEST before Google did? Stuff like this makes me shake my head.
